We have officially begun a $1 million capital campaign to replace our aging swine barn and make significant improvements to our livestock facilities. With a new facility designed to become much more than simply a place to house livestock during fair week. Our vision is to create a modern agricultural education and youth livestock facility that will serve generations of young people, agricultural families, and our entire community. Each year, hundreds of youth and families come through the Branch County Fairgrounds learning lessons that extend far beyond the show ring. They learn responsibility, hard work, animal care, agriculture, sportsmanship, leadership, and the importance of giving back to their community. We want this new facility to provide them with a safe, functional, and welcoming place to continue those traditions for decades to come. The new swine barn is the first phase and is being designed to house more than 300 swine while improving animal welfare, ventilation, water access, sanitation, biosecurity, accessibility, and the overall experience for exhibitors and visitors. Just as importantly, we want the facility to have an educational purpose. Our goal is ambitious, but we believe strongly in this project. We are pursuing grants, agricultural partnerships, corporate sponsorships, local businesses, farm families, individual donors, and in-kind contributions to reach our $1 million goal.
