About the Brightside Working Trail Schooling Series
  • The Brightside Working Trail Schooling Series is a supportive, education-focused event designed to help riders and handlers build confidence and skill through a thoughtfully laid-out obstacle course. Open to both in-hand and under-saddle participants, the series rewards precision, accuracy, and good horsemanship—not speed.

Participants are encouraged to move through the course with intention and purpose, using controlled, balanced gaits appropriate to their division. While forward movement is important, rushing is not. The judge is looking for calm, confident execution—not how fast you can get from one obstacle to the next.

These are learning events where riders and horses of all levels can safely challenge themselves, gain feedback, and grow as partners. Whether navigating poles, gates, or other real-world trail scenarios, the emphasis is always on communication, safety, and effective handling. It is an ideal stepping-stone for anyone looking to improve their relationship with their horse, or just try something new be it groundwork or saddle-work in a welcoming environment.

“Variety is not only the spice of life, it is the key to success in horse training.” – Jimmy Wofford (eventing legend)
