mmer School 2025 was my first series of live course teachings. It was a rousing success, and each attendee was thrilled with the information and inspiration that they received, so I'm looking forward to having another very special live Summer School session.
This year's Summer School is centered around textures and what you can do with them. You might not realize it, but there are many untapped uses for textures that can take your images to even higher levels of excellence, and in this 4-week, 8-session course, we will explore them all.
These are the topics we will cover:
- How to use one or more textures to create backgrounds for an image
- Understanding when and how to cut a subject out and use it with a texture
- Using textures with flowers, birds, animals, skies, and as abstracts
- How to add interesting light to the texture to draw the eye
- Using Rosie's Action Set to get the most out of post-processing your images
- I will demonstrate best practices for preparing your image prior to adding textures
- I will demonstrate ways to alter the color temperature and light of the texture
- I will be using my Blur with Glow Action to add beautiful nuances to the image
- I will demonstrate how and when to use Photoshop's Blur options with textures
This course will be held on the following dates:
June 15, 22, 29, and July 8. There will be 2 sessions - 2 PM and 7 PM in the Eastern Day. Time Zone (EDT). A different set of images will be used in each session, but the concepts will be similar.
Here are the subjects that will be taught on each date:
June 15, 2 PM and 7 PM: Introduction to using textures with flowers. In these two sessions, we will take it slow and build a great foundation that we can build on in future lessons
June 22, 2 PM and 7 PM: We will dive deeper into using Blend Modes and other techniques (such as Blur with Glow) to create outstanding floral portraits using textures
June 29, 2 PM and 7 PM: I will move on to using sky textures to create atmospheric changes and intensify sunsets. I will also begin my instruction on using textures with animals
July 8, 2 PM and 7 PM: At 2 PM, I will continue to teach on using textures with animals, then at 7 PM, I will teach the technique I used to create the "Weathered Church", and the "Maine Lighthouse".
Attending the live sessions is the best way to learn for many reasons; however, if that is not possible, you may purchase sessions and watch the replays, which will be available 24 hours after the session ends.
The purchase of this course and textures is non-refundable.
