Please read the following waiver and release of liability. By signing below, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with volunteering at the rescue and at other venues for the rescue, including but not limited to all types of events and for fundraising efforts.
Waiver and Release of Liability*
This Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release Agreement (the "Agreement") is made between The Rescue and the Volunteer named above. The Volunteer agrees to abide by all terms and conditions set forth herein in exchange for the opportunity to provide voluntary services, including working with, near, and around horses and other animals, and participating in various activities associated with The Rescue. 
1. Acknowledgement of Inherent Risks 
The Volunteer understands and acknowledges that participating in activities, including but not limited to, handling, grooming, feeding, exercising, cleaning stalls, building maintenance, and being in close proximity to horses and other farm animals, involves inherent and significant risks, dangers, and hazards. These risks include, but are not limited to: 
a) Equine Behavior: The unpredictable nature of horses, including the propensity of horses to bite, kick, run, buck, bolt, shy, or make sudden, unexpected movements. 
b) Environmental Risks: Slipping, falling, or being struck by equipment, objects, or animals; uneven terrain; and weather conditions. 
c) Physical Exertion: Risks associated with heavy lifting, bending, and strenuous physical activity required for the assigned tasks. 
d) Injury: The risk of minor or major bodily injury, serious injury, partial or total disability, and even death. 
The Volunteer voluntarily elects to accept all risks connected with participation in these activities and asserts that participation is voluntary. 
2. Waiver and Release of Liability 
The Volunteer, on behalf of themselves, their personal representatives, heirs, successors, and assigns, hereby unconditionally and irrevocably releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue The Rescue, its directors, officers, agents, employees, volunteers, or representatives (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages arising from any injury, disability, death, or loss or damage to person or property, sustained by the Volunteer or any person accompanying the Volunteer while participating in or traveling to or from activities, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law. 
3. Indemnification 
The Volunteer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any loss, liability, damage, or cost, including but not limited to reasonable attorney's fees, that may incur due to the Volunteer's participation in any activities, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise. This includes any claim made by the Volunteer or any third party arising out of the Volunteer's conduct or failure to follow instructions or safety rules.
4. Volunteer Conduct and Understanding
The Volunteer agrees to:
Follow all rules, instructions, and directions given by The Rescue staff and authorized representatives.
Discontinue any activity immediately if they feel unsafe or unqualified to perform a task.
Notify a supervisor immediately of any injury, accident, or hazardous condition.
Provide their services without expectation of compensation.
The Volunteer affirms they are physically and mentally able to participate in the activities and are assuming full responsibility for their own personal safety and health.

5. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State/Province of Virginia.

6. Signature
I have read this Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release Agreement, fully understand its terms, and I sign it freely and voluntarily without any inducement.
Medical Authorization*
The Volunteer hereby grants permission to The Rescue and its representatives to authorize emergency medical treatment, including transportation, medical services, and hospitalization for the Volunteer, should they become injured or ill while performing services for The Rescue, provided that reasonable efforts have been made to contact the emergency contact listed below. The Volunteer understands and agrees that they shall be solely responsible for any and all costs associated with such medical treatment and transportation.

Please read the following rules and regulations carefully. By signing below, you agree to follow all the rules and regulations outlined in this section.
Rules and Regulations *
1. All participants/volunteers/guests must have signed waiver and release form
2. All participants under the age of 18 must have Guardian approval with signed waiver and release form 
3. All children must be accompanied with an adult at all times
4. Everyone must wear closed-toed shoes and appropriate attire
5. We are a drug/alcohol free property! ABSOLUTELY NO smoking of any kind, drugs, or alcohol anywhere on premises
6. Volunteers/guests do not ride horses without approval, appointment, and in the presence of a horse trainer
7. Only handle horses, including grooming, after education on how to and with approved permission to do so
8. Volunteers must follow instructions given for daily tasks
9. Drive slowly with care as there are children and animals throughout property
10. Do not block driveway or access to road
11. Be sure all gates and doors are closed and secure
12. Check in and out when arriving and leaving
13. If planning to bring friends or family, please give us a heads up
14. Please pick up your belongings and any trash to dispose of properly
15. Keep all areas clean 
16. Leave tack room/barn/areas cleaner than when you came
17. Do not use anything that is not yours without permission
18. Do not leave water running unintended and always shut off 
19. Notify us if you have any issues with loud sounds as we have guinea fowls
20. Do not bring pets. Any service animals must be approved
Please read the media release. By selecting "I agree," you consent to the use of your images and likeness without compensation or further approval.
Media Release Statement*
The Volunteer grants The Rescue permission to use photographs, videos, or other likenesses of the Volunteer taken in connection with The Rescue's activities for any legitimate purpose, including fundraising, publicity, and promotion, without compensation to the Volunteer.
