Thank you for your interest in our artistic team for Castaways Theatre. Castaways, as a community theater, is a 100% volunteer organization and as such offers no compensation to directors, artistic opportunitities, nor does the Steering Committee or other Castaways members receive compensation of any sort. Castaways is funded primarily by ticket sales, and every play that Castaways produces is a financial risk. The Castaways Artistic Director and team review and nominate the artistic team to the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee, with input and advice from the Artistic Director, selects directors based on multiple factors including but not limited to:
- artist previous production experience
- current and previous involvement with Castaways
- time commitment availability
- PWC community presence
Prior to being selected as a artistic member, you may be called in to meet with the Steering Committee and discuss your vision for the production for which you are being considered.
If you are not selected as a artistic team member for a particular production, Castaways is always looking for volunteers to assist in other ways with our productions and encourages you to seek those opportunities to become involved and gain experience. The Steering Committee will occasionally direct productions themselves or offer shows to directors who have worked well with Castaways in the past as may be necessary for the goals of the production.
