CCM Youth Wind Ensembles (CYWE) Audition Sign-Up

Location: CCM, check in at the Atrium in the lobby of Corbett Auditiorium (driving and parking information)

Dates:

• Aug. 30: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Aug. 31: 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Percussion Only: Aug. 31: 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. at CCM

CYWE 2025-2026 Audition Requirements

The following information is for all students in grades 9-12 auditioning for the CYWE Wind Ensemble and CYWE Honors Chamber Ensembles.

Use the links below to access your audition requirements and excerpts. In addition to the provided excerpts, you will need to prepare:

Scales: Prepare the major keys up to four flats and four sharps on your instrument (both tongued and slurred), in as many octaves as you can comfortably execute. Also prepare the chromatic scale (ascending and descending) over the entire range you are comfortable on your instrument.

Solo Piece (or excerpt from a piece) of your choice: This solo should be representative of your overall musical and technical ability. Solos and excerpts should be no more than 2 minutes in length. Note: No piano or recorded accompaniment permitted. PERCUSSIONISTS – please prepare a solo on marimba, xylophone, or vibraphone (2 or 4 mallets) and/or timpani (2-4 drums).

Sight Reading: Be prepared to sight read multiple selections from your instrument. Practicing works you are unfamiliar with will help you prepare for this portion of the audition.

Excerpts:

Click on the link for your instrument (in alphabetical order) for your audition packet. Prepare the excerpts to the best of your ability at the tempo you feel you can perform most proficiently. Some of the excerpts are more difficult than others- keep in mind, we will be listening for potential, not perfection, so have fun preparing this exciting music.
