Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from CMM Standard Poodles, but it does not guarantee I'll get a puppy from this or any future litter. While it's unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time.
APPROVAL AND DEPOSIT: I will review applications within 5 business days of receipt. Applications are processed in the order they are received. If your home is a good fit, I'll notify you. We breed infrequently, so we will only accept deposits when puppies are expected or actually available. After whelping, approved homes will receive an emailed deposit form with instructions for placing a commitment deposit on a puppy, and emails will be sent out in the order approved applications were received. Please make this deposit within 48 hours of the e-mail. If you make a deposit, you are committing to take a puppy from the litter, deposits are non-refundable.
YOUR PICK OF PUPPY: Puppies will be placed on a match basis. Matches start being made when puppies are between 6-7 weeks. Matches are not final until 8 weeks when puppies are able to be evaluated for show potential. In most cases a family will have the option to choose between one of the two puppies they are matched with. We ask that you make a choice within 24 hours of notification since there may be other families waiting for a chance to choose. Should you elect to not take a puppy from the litter, the deposit is forfeited and the deposit applied to the costs of the deposit applied to finding the puppy another home. It is not forwarded to an upcoming litter as we do not have regular litters.
GOING HOME: We cannot hold puppies for extended times without prior arrangement and planning; it is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe. If you have a big vacation planned or have events that would conflict with a young puppy, please know puppies cannot be boarded in a kennel until they have received their full immunizations. If you would like your puppy to stay for our board-and-train puppy foundation program arrangements must be made in advance.
CONTRACT: No puppy will be placed without a signed contract. Our contract is signed at pick up. We believe it's the professional thing to do to memorialize our obligations to each other on paper so there are no questions later, and for that reason it's a bit lengthy. If you have questions about specific terms, you need to contact us prior to picking up your puppy.
SPAY/NEUTER: We require spay/neuter at or before 24 months. We have a take-back provision in our contract. Any puppy from our home always has a home here, and will never experience the fear and burden of life at a shelter. Taking back an unaltered dog into our home poses significant risk to our own dogs due to canine STDs and the possiblity an unaltered dog could be pregnant. Sadly, many well-intentioned folks don't remember to spay before the first heat cycle, and suddenly their barely-adolescent dog is pregnant by multiple studs of unknown heritage. Spay surgery while pregnant is exceedingly risky, and several canine STDs such as brucellosis can be transferred to humans, which poses an unacceptable risk to our family. Because we take cradle-to-grave "original home" responsibility for the puppies we created, puppies must be de-sexed unless you are under a guardian home agreement.
REGISTRATION PAPERS: Our excellent family companions come with AKC limited registration. You are free to register your dog with the AKC, UKC or CKC under ILP or single registration status should you desire to enter events and competitions.
