This form is NOT the online CalFresh Food application, but it is the first step in preparing to apply for benefits.

Students must have ONE of the following statuses:

• U.S. citizenship
• Lawful Permanent Resident status
• Another qualifying immigration status

International students are not eligible to apply for CalFresh Food benefits, even with a work visa/Social Security Number. For more information regarding the immigration status requirement for CalFresh Food benefits, please visit: www.getcalfresh.org/en/immigrants.

You stated you are currently experiencing homelessness or in an unstable living situation. Chico State Basic Needs has programs to assist students

• Who are homeless
• In unstable housing
• In an unexpected financial crisis
• Do not have enough food
• Have trouble getting the right food

You stated you currently live with your parents or legal guardians and are 21 years of age or younger. Per CalFresh Food guidelines, you may not be eligible to apply for CalFresh Food benefits on your own at this time.

If you are 21 years of age or younger and still living at home, your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) would need to apply for CalFresh Food benefits on behalf of your household. For more information on what classifies as a household, please visit the CDSS website.

The Application for CalFresh Food Benefits is a 3 step process.

1. Complete the online application. (Approximately 15 minutes.)

2. Complete a scheduled interview with a county worker to review your submitted application from step 1. (Occurs within 10-15 business days after your application is submitted.)

3. Submit documents (by walk-in or electronically) to the county office to verify your information. (County representative will explain what documents you need to submit during step 2.)
