Advanced Meter (AMI) Opt-Out
The Chelan PUD Board of Commissioners has established an opt-out program for customers who choose not to have an advanced meter installed. This program is available to residential services with the exception of multi-family residences with more than 4 units.
There is an established fee of $25/month per meter to cover manual meter reading and other costs associated with this program (see electric rate Schedule 1 for additional information). This fee will not be assessed until the new meters are deployed throughout our system; no sooner than Spring 2024.
For accounts in current status (no past due balances), this request will receive conditional approval and you will be notified via your provided email address. If you already have an advanced meter installed, the PUD will replace the advanced meter with a non-advanced meter at our earliest convenience. Meter accuracy testing, eligibility review and access validation will occur at a future date.
To remain eligible for this program please remember to:
- Maintain safe, clear and direct access to the meter (including winter access to your property and meter) to allow the meter to be read and tested by PUD staff.
- Ensure timely payments and avoid any past-due balances. Disconnection due to non-payment will result in opt-out approval being revoked.
- Comply with PUD Service Regulations.
