This EOI form is only for new singers to our Aotearoa Academy Choir.
We're excited to offer a great set of learning experiences for our 2025 Aotearoa Academy Choir programme. This national training programme connects you with choral experts, a breadth of technical learning and access to support tools. In 2025 we will also overlap with the NZ Youth Choir and the NZ Secondary Students' Choir courses, as well as connecting with a visiting youth choir from San Francisco.
ABOUT the AOTEAROA ACADEMY CHOIR programme: our foundation national training choir programme started in 2023. We involve up to 100 singers on an annual programme, meeting together 3 or 4 times each year. Singers come from as far south as Invercargill and as far north as Kaitaia. We have 3 focus areas: music education, youth leadership and cultural exchange. Our choir space is led by the statement: SEEK TO UPLIFT OTHERS. We foster an inclusive and supportive space where singers can be themselves and enjoy learning together.
If you'd like to join us next year, please complete this form and submit by Sunday 1 December. Singers accepted into the Aotearoa Academy Choir programme for 2025 will then be asked to complete a membership form in December.

COURSE DATES 2025: For 2025, we will be holding 3 Aotearoa Academy Choir courses as follows: COURSE 1: 23-26 April (Wellington) overlapping with the NZYC course; COURSE 2: 29 June-2 July (Wellington) in collaboration with a youth choir from San Francisco; COURSE 3: 25-28 September (Wellington) being around Choral Connect and NZSSC. To join the 2025 Aotearoa Academy Choir, you need to be available for all these 3 courses. Are you available for all these above dates?

TARGETED TRAINING: As part of our 2025 Aotearoa Academy Choir programme, at times we will split our choir group into two so that activities can be more targeted towards either the NZSSC or NZYC level. Are you interested in this more targeted learning?

BILLETING: Are you able to billet anyone for any of the 2025 AAC courses, or perhaps you know someone who may be able to billet singers? If so, please write down the dates you can host someone or the contact details of the person who may be able to help billet:
COSTS: The total fees for the 3 Aotearoa Academy Choir courses and 3 Zooms in 2025 is $1350. We do have payment plans where you can make ten monthly payments, either of the set amount of $135 or alternatively you can make payments of any amount at any time up until the day before the last course. There may be some financial support available for fees, travel and accommodation contribution. Please select any options below:

IF YOU AUDITIONED THIS YEAR FOR NZSSC25-26 CYCLE. If you recently auditioned for the NZ Secondary Students' Choir, we will already have your audition video on file and you are not required to submit one here. However, if you would like to submit a new audition video, follow the instructions below.
FOR ALL OTHER SINGERS:
VIDEO RECORDING: Our Co-Music Directors Elise and Rowan will hear your current voice and consider where to place you in the 2025 choir sections from your video recording. THREE THINGS SHOULD BE ON YOUR VIDEO: 1. record a video of yourself singing the above unaccompanied folksong "Sally Gardens" in any key you like, AND 2. a scale from your lowest to highest note, up and down, starting on an F and using the syllable YAH, and 3. record yourself singing any song of your own choice that shows off your technique and musicianship. Paste a link to your video recording of your singing in the box below. You can provide us with a google drive link, YouTube link, Google photos link. Just make sure access is set to enable anyone to view:
