Camp Descriptions
Mixed Media Camp: Students will learn in a creative mixed-media art camp inspired by the arts, nature, and our surrounding parks. Young artists will create sculptures and various 3-D art projects using mixed media materials - drawing inspiration from and using materials found in our natural landscape, urban architecture, and the works of contemporary Asian American Pacific Islander artists. Students will be prompted by teaching artists to think critically about their relationship with nature, sustainability, and conservation while making art. Artists will present their artwork in a gallery-style setting at the end of the week.
Fashion Design Camp: Aspiring designers will explore the world of contemporary and historical fibers, textiles, and styles to create their collection of upcycle apparel and sculptural objects through creative materials and methods. Students will try sketching, sewing, printing, weaving, and dyeing with natural and synthetic materials. Each designer will learn how to create concepts, experiment with fabric manipulation, and showcase a portfolio of sketches, fabric designs, and collection inspirations.
Drawing and Painting Camp: Color, form, line, shape, texture, value, and volume are the basic elements of all visual art. Students will go through step-by-step instructions on the fundamentals of painting and drawing. After mastering basic concepts, they will practice advanced techniques to add dimension to their work. All the while, the young artists will hone their fine motor skills and enhance their work with vibrant imagination. By the end of camp, they will unveil their creations in a showcase for friends and family.
