International Baccalaureate Program Student Contract
This contract establishes the responsibilities and expectations for students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at Central High School. Enrollment in the IB Program is a privilege and requires commitment to academic excellence, personal responsibility, and adherence to the policies of Bibb County School District as outlined in Board Policy JBCCA: Student Assignment to Schools.
1. Admissions
Students must meet the eligibility criteria for admission to the IB Program in accordance with district magnet program policies.
Admission is based on multiple criteria, including but not limited to: academic records, teacher recommendations, standardized test scores, extracurricular involvement, interviews, and written communication skills.
An interview with the IB admissions committee is REQUIRED for admission into the IB Program. The interview will be held on February 4th, 2026 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Students should be prepared to discuss why they are interviewing for the IB Program. Parents are welcomed, but not required to be in attendance.
2. Continuation Criteria
To remain in good standing in the IB Program, students must meet the following expectations:
Academic & Programmatic Performance
Maintain passing grades of 70 or above in all IB courses with evidence of consistent effort and preparation.
Complete all required coursework, assessments, and projects by established deadlines. Demonstrate active participation in program components, including all Core Program requirements (DP - Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, Creativity-Activity-Service CP – Reflective Project, Personal & Professional Skills, Language & Cultural Studies, Community Engagement)
Attendance
Maintain regular attendance in accordance with district policy. Excessive absences or tardiness may result in probation and/or dismissal.
Behavior
Follow all school rules and the Bibb County Code of Conduct. Show respect for peers, teachers, and the integrity of the IB Program.
Chronic behavior issues and Code of Conduct violations will not be tolerated and may lead to dismissal. Bullying, Cheating, Fighting, and Profanity are considered serious Code of Conduct violations.
3. Program Probation
A student may be placed on Academic and/or Behavioral Probation if they fail to meet academic, programmatic, attendance, or behavioral requirements.
The probationary period will last through the end of the semester for students to resolve the area of deficiency. Written notification of probation will be provided to the student and parent/guardian. Students will receive appropriate interventions and support during the probationary period. A return to good standing will occur when deficiencies are corrected within the probationary period. Failure to improve the area of deficiency may result in dismissal from the IB Program.
4. Dismissal
Students will be dismissed if continuation criteria are not met after being placed on probation and/or students engage in Code of Conduct Violations.
Examples of Level I or II Code of Conduct Violations are: Absences/Cutting Class, Bus Interference, Cell Phone/Personal Electronic Device Misuse, Cheating, Computer Misuse, Dress Code, False Information/Forgery, Profanity, Student Disrespect/Incivility, Tardiness
Examples of Level III or higher violations that would result in dismissal are: Alcohol/Drug Use, Assault, Battery, Bullying/Cyberbullying, Bus Interference, Cell Phone Violations (Repeated), Computer Trespass/Misuse, Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct w/Moderate to Severe Distrubance, Dress Code Violations (Repeated), Encouraging Misconduct, False Fire Alarm/Crime, Fighting, Gambling, Gang-Related Activity, Hazing, Inappropriate Language/Profanity, Leaving School Grounds, Off-Campus Misconduct/Felony, Sexual Activity/Battery/Harassment, Stalking, Theft, Student Disrespect/Incivility (Blatant), Tardiness (excessive), Tobacco/Vaping, Weapons.
A level III or higher Code of Conduct violation does not require probationary notice and will result in dismissal from the IB Program.
Immediate dismissal may result from:
Failure to meet minimum academic or behavioral performance after being placed on probation.
Repeated Level I and Level II Code of Conduct Violations (See Above)
Level III or higher Code of Conduct Violation. (See Above)
Parents will be notified of dismissal decisions. Students who are dismissed from the IB Program will be sent to their zoned school.
