ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY: 

ALL ARE WELCOME:  All first-time, new, emerging and professional artists, ages 16 and up, are welcome to apply with this no-fee Call for Art application.

How is music an inspiration, the subject matter of, or the motivator during your creative process?

 

Music is quite literally the soundtrack of our lives. It’s part of our celebrations, our heartbreaks, workouts, it’s playing overhead at the grocery store and the airport, on our phones, in our cars, all over social media, on our turntables, it makes movies and social media videos better, it’s a universal language, it enhances our experiences in cafés and restaurants, it’s exciting, fun, life-changing and mental health improving, and for artists, it’s often playing a role their art-making process.

 

All out-of-the-box creativity is encouraged!

 

 

· How does music relate to our five senses: sight, smell, taste, hearing, and touch?

· How has music changed your life?

· What would the world be like without music?

· What music experiences make you say “WOW!”

· What’s it like to be in the audience at a performance, or on stage?

· What role does music play in your mental health?

· Is there a difference between noise and sound?

· What is your emotional response to music?

· What music do you listen to while making your art?

· Is music portrayed in the artwork, is it abstract, or was it a pivotal part of your creative process but isn't personified in the subject matter of your art?

· Insert your own questions here and provide your creative response to this call!

 

ALL MEDIA 2D AND 3D: We’re looking for artwork in all two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms for our upcoming exhibit in the City Arts Center. 

All types of reactions to the above and beyond, both representational and abstract, 2D or 3D, are welcome. All artwork styles and media are welcome too, including, but certainly not limited to: graphic design, reimagined album covers or imaginary concert posters, t-shirt art, mixed media, Manga, sculpture, jewelry, sculpture, fiber art, painting, pottery, illustration, manga, song lyrics and written music, photography, ceramics, and insert your style, art form, or medium here and please apply to this Call for Art!

 

NO FEE TO APPLY: There is no fee to apply for our City Arts Center Call for Art, however if your art sells during the exhibition, we will deduct a 20% commission. More artist guidelines in the below Artist Agreement.

Artwork Delivery Appointments Date for artwork accepted into the exhibit:

May 6, 2025

All art accepted into the show must be hand-delivered/we will not accept shipments of art. 

Exhibit Reception:

Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 6pm – 8pm

Artwork Pickup Appointment:

July 8, 2025

Exhibit Date Span:

May 8 – July 3, 2025

 

Originality:

In consideration of the opportunity to display my artwork to the public, and other good and valuable consideration, the adequacy and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, I, the undersigned artist, certify that the artwork that I am submitting is my original artwork and that I am the author and creator of such artwork. I acknowledge that the City of Round Rock Arts and Culture (“RRA”) reserves the right to accept or deny any submission with or without cause. I hereby agree that by submitting my artwork, I am consenting to all terms of this Call for Artwork Submissions Artist Agreement & Waiver of Liability.  

 

Promotion and Publicity:

I grant RRA permission to publish in all media my name, artwork, and my location for use in promotion through print media, television, and the internet. I further allow RRA to release such information to other persons and entities. My name will be attributed to pieces of my artwork that are shown by RRA or other persons or entities.

 

I further agree to grant City of Round Rock permission to publish in all media, my name, artwork, and my location for use in press releases, print, television, and the internet. I further agree to participate in a program whereby RRA may release such information to other persons and entities.

Responsibility:

I hereby agree to provide in-person delivery of artwork. In exchange for the above recited consideration, I, my heirs, successors and assigns hereby release and hold harmless the City of Round Rock, RRA, its directors, staff, sponsors and affiliated entities and their heirs, successors, and assigns for any loss of property related to the submission of my art pursuant to this agreement.

 

I understand that the RRA and its City Arts Center do not assume responsibility for loss or damage to my artwork(s) or the loss or damage to frames or glass, regardless of how the damage was sustained. Reasonable safety and electronic security precautions are in place to ensure added protection of the art in the gallery. I also understand that it is strongly recommended that I carry my own personal property insurance for my artwork(s).

 

Display Length:

I understand that if my artwork is accepted for the show that the work may not be removed from the exhibition until the end of the exhibit, with said pick-up date being described in the Call for Art. It is my responsibility to notify RRA in writing or by email of a third-party pick-up of artwork at the conclusion of the exhibition. Artwork accepted by the judges, if sold prior to the exhibit, must be placed in the show. Replacement pieces are not accepted.  No artwork, regardless of whether it has been sold during an exhibition or before installation, may be removed from the exhibition until the ending date of the exhibition.

Artwork Sales:

Sales of artwork will be processed by the City Arts Center staff. If the artist is aware that a buyer wishes to acquire a work on exhibition in the City Arts Center, they will direct the prospective buyer to the City Arts Center staff to process the sale. We will process sales tax when tendering an art sale. We will deduct a 20% commission from the sale, minus credit card processing fee, to ten be payable to you. In the form below, for each piece, Type "NFS" if this is Not for Sale. We request that no artwork available for purchase is under $100.  

  

Acknowledgement: 

I acknowledge that I have read and understand all terms contained in the description for this Call for Art and this Artist Agreement & Waiver of Liability and agree to be bound by all the stated terms and conditions. Artists 16 and up can apply, however if you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian sign this Artist Agreement & Waiver of Liability. 

 

Waiver of Liability:

Upon submission of this Artist Agreement and Waiver of Liability, I (the artist), my heirs, successors, and assigns, shall release, indemnify, and hold the City of Round Rock, RRA, and appointed officers, volunteers, employees harmless from any and all claims, costs and liabilities for any and all claims associated with any damage, personal injury, death, or other property damage which is the result of handling and displaying the artwork(s) at the City Arts Center.
