NACOLE Flame and Achievement in/Contribution to Oversight Award
2020 NOMINATION PROCESS
Deadline for Nominations– 5:00 p.m. PST on
Friday, June 12, 2020
NACOLE will once again be relying on nominations from the NACOLE membership for two categories of awards:
The NACOLE Flame Award, recognizing significant, long-term contributions to the field of law enforcement oversight by an individual, an organization, or an agency.
The NACOLE Achievement in Oversight / Contribution to Oversight Award, recognizing a specific significant accomplishment or contribution to civilian oversight by an individual, an organization, or an agency.
As we look forward to the 26th Annual NACOLE Conference, we are pleased to open the 2020 awards nomination process. Nominations can be made by any NACOLE member and will be evaluated by an awards sub-committee of the NACOLE Training, Education & Standards Committee. The final decision regarding award recipients will be made by the NACOLE Board of Directors.
The criteria for the awards can be found by clicking the links found above or by visiting the Awards page of the NACOLE website. Please review the criteria for each award and ensure that your nomination addresses the criteria. The criteria will be used in evaluating the nominee’s qualifications for the award.
The committee attempts to judge the qualifications of nominees based primarily on the information in the nomination. Do not assume the committee will be familiar with the qualifications of your nominee. Please be very specific and provide specific examples and facts to support your nomination.
Please note, if you submit a nomination for multiple individuals to share an award, please provide sufficient information for each nominee to be evaluated individually on each criterion. Each candidate will be judged individually, and every candidate must be deemed deserving for a joint nomination to succeed.
Word limitations have been imposed in the electronic form below. In addition, the electronic nomination form will allow statements from one to three individuals supporting the nomination and can include relevant supporting documents. If there is an existing document (not one created for purposes of the nomination) that would provide insight into the reasons the person is nominated, it can be attached. For instance, if nominating a legislator for legislation, attaching the legislation is appropriate and would be helpful. If nominating a journalist for an article, attaching the article is appropriate.
June 12, 2020 is the deadline to submit nominations and only timely and complete nominations will be considered.
