Membership Registration
1. Introduction
By registering as a member of the Canine Nosework Association of South Africa (CNASA), you agree to abide by the terms and conditions outlined below. These terms govern your participation in CNASA events, access to member-exclusive resources, and compliance with South African regulations, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). If you do not agree with these terms, please do not proceed with registration.
2. Membership Eligibility
- Membership is open to all individuals interested in dog scent detection sports, regardless of experience level.
- Members must be at least 18 years of age. Minors may register with parental/guardian consent.
- Members agree to uphold CNASA rules, ethical guidelines, and code of conduct during all events and activities.
3. Membership Fees
CNASA offers the following membership options:
- R300.00 annual fee (standard membership), renewable annually 1 March
- R180 for seniors and persons under the age of 18 years
- Prorata fees: Membership fees will be calculated on a prorata basis (from April of the current year until February of the next year)
- Note that Organising Clubs may charge additional fees for participation in CNASA-sanctioned Odour Recognition Tests (ORTs) and Trials.
4. Registration Process
- Complete and submit the Membership form.
- An invoice will be sent within 7 working days.
- Registration is confirmed only after both the membership form and proof of payment have been received and verified by CNASA.
5. Data Protection & POPIA Compliance
In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) No. 4 of 2013, CNASA is committed to protecting your personal information. By registering, you agree to the following:
5.1 Information Collected
We collect the following personal data during registration:
- Full Name
- Identity Number
- Email Address
- Mobile Number
- Physical Address
- Dog's name, breed, DOB and Sex (for competition and recording purposes)
5.2 Purpose of Data Collection
- To process your membership and provide relevant services.
- To inform you about upcoming events, competitions, and CNASA news.
- To facilitate event registrations and competition entries.
5.3 Data Security & Confidentiality
- Your data will be stored securely and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.
- You may request access to your data or request its deletion by contacting info@cnasa.co.za
6. Code of Conduct & Ethics
By joining CNASA, members agree to:
- Treat all particpants, judges, and officials with respect.
- Follow all competition, training and safety rules.
- Ensure their dog is handled ethically and humanely.
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or misconduct at CNASA events.
Violations of this code may result in membership suspension or termination.
7. Liability Waiver & Indemnity
7.1 Assumptions of Risk
Participation in dog scent detection activities involves inherent risks.
By registering as a member, you acknowledge that:
- You are solely responsible for your dog's behaviour and training.
- CNASA, its officials, and event organisers are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages resulting from participation in events.
7.2 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CNASA, its directors, volunteers, and event organisers against any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from your participation.
8. Cancellation & Membership Termination
- You may cancel your membership at any time by written request.
- CNASA reserves the right to revoke membership for violations of policies, and the code of conduct.
