    REGULATION MATTERS: Polyvagal Theory, Interoception and Emotional Integration

    “Beyond the Buzzword: A Deep Dive into True Regulation.
    ‘Regulation’ has become a widely used term in clinical and educational spaces, but what does it truly mean? How does it shape behaviour, emotional well-being, and human connection?

    This immersive, in-person workshop, spanning two full days, illuminates the science and practice of regulation. Participants will explore the intersection of Polyvagal Theory, interoception, and emotional integration—gaining practical tools to enhance co-regulation, relationships, resilience, and functional outcomes.

    About the Instructor: KIM BARTHEL OTR, C/NDT, Advanced OT Instructor

    Description:

    Kim is a registered Occupational Therapist in British Columbia, Ontario and the United States and has been practicing since 1989. She is an Advanced Neuro-Developmental Treatment Instructor as well as a Sensory Integration Instructor.

    Kim Barthel is a sought-after speaker on many topics for a wide variety of professionals and community members globally. Utilizing her extensive technical skills and expertise developed since the 80’s, Kim is a natural at inspiring and connecting hundreds of diverse audience members. Her unique blend of skills in utilizing storytelling, humility, science, and her comfort in many different cultures effectively holds the attention of every group of participants she is with.

    Kim travels widely as an instructor to a range of therapists, educators, social workers, physicians, special-needs care providers and parents. Her specialties in workshop instruction include Trauma-Sensitive Practice, Pediatric Neuro-Developmental Treatment, Sensory Processing, Attachment Theory, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Addiction and Mental Health. In May, 2019, Kim was honoured as the recipient of the prestigious Award of Merit by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

    ConnectEducation Center for Global Education and Training
    (“ConnectED” / “the Organizer”)

    By registering for, attending, or participating in any seminar, workshop, class, training, lecture, demonstration, or online program (“Event”) organized by ConnectEducation Center for Global Education and Training, the participant (“Registrant”) acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

     

    1. Scope of Application

    These Terms and Conditions apply to all Events organized by ConnectED, including but not limited to:

    • In-person seminars, workshops, and trainings
    • Online or virtual programs
    • Hybrid events
    • Lectures, demonstrations, and professional courses
    • across all disciplines and professional fields offered by the Organizer.

     

    2. Registration and Attendance

    2.1. Registration is voluntary and confirmed only upon full payment of the applicable fees.

    2.2. Registrants are responsible for ensuring that all registration details provided are accurate, complete, and current, including name, profession, affiliation, and licensure details where applicable. Errors in registration details shall not be grounds for refund, benefit reassignment, or post-event correction beyond administrative discretion.

    2.3. Failure to attend an Event, whether in whole or in part, does not entitle the Registrant to any refund, credit, or compensation, except as expressly provided in these Terms.

     

    3. Fees, Payment Methods, and Charges

    3.1. Event fees must be paid in full at the time of registration, unless otherwise expressly stated by the Organizer.

    3.2. The Organizer may offer various payment options for selected Events, including bank transfer, e-wallets, credit cards, or online payment gateways. Not all payment methods are available for all Events.

    3.3. Credit card and online payment gateway transactions may incur additional processing, convenience, or service fees, which shall be fully borne by the Registrant. These fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    3.4. Any payment deficiencies or errors arising from the Registrant’s actions shall be settled prior to Event participation.

     

    4. No-Refund Policy and Limited Transferability

    4.1. All registration fees are strictly non-refundable, regardless of reason.

    4.2. In lieu of refunds, a registration may be:

    • Transferred to another participant, or
    • Applied to a future Event,
    • subject to all of the following conditions:
    • Transfer or application must occur within six (6) months from the original Event date;
    • A written request must be submitted at least fifteen (15) business days prior to the scheduled Event; and
    • Approval is subject to Organizer discretion and Event availability.

    4.3. Registrations not transferred or used within the six (6)-month period shall be deemed forfeited.

     

    5. Official Receipts, Taxes, and Documentation

    5.1. Official Receipts (ORs) shall be issued by ConnectEd Kids Therapy Center, an affiliate of the Organizer, in compliance with Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations.

    5.2. Registrants requesting ORs under a company or third-party name must provide complete and accurate billing details (company name, TIN, address) at least two (2) weeks prior to the Event. Failure to do so will result in issuance under the Registrant’s personal name.

    5.3. Requests for additional documentation (including affidavits, certifications, employer-specific forms, notarized documents, special reports, or breakdowns) are subject to Organizer approval and may incur administrative fees.

    5.4. Any taxes, fees, or charges beyond those reflected in the OR (including employer-imposed withholding taxes, additional VAT, or third-party requirements) shall be solely borne by the Registrant.

     

    6. Online and Virtual Events – Technology, Connectivity, and Risk Allocation

    6.1. Certain Events may offer online, virtual, or livestream participation. Registrants acknowledge that such access relies on third-party platforms, internet connectivity, digital infrastructure, and power supply.

    6.2. The Organizer shall use reasonable efforts to deliver Online Events; however, the Organizer does not guarantee uninterrupted access, continuous streaming, or error-free delivery.

    6.3. All technology-related requirements and risks are the sole responsibility of the Registrant, including but not limited to:

    • Internet stability and bandwidth
    • Device compatibility and functionality
    • Software, applications, browsers, updates, and licenses
    • Platform access credentials
    • Power availability and physical environment

    6.4. Registrants expressly acknowledge the risk of disconnection, lag, audio or visual disruptions, platform failure, software malfunction, and power outages, which are inherent to online participation.

    6.5. Such occurrences shall not be considered fault or negligence of the Organizer and shall not entitle the Registrant to refunds, credits, make-up sessions, extended access, or claims of any kind.

     

    7. Online Participation Rules, Identification, Camera Policy, and Access Control

    7.1. Registered Name Requirement
    For all Online Events, Registrants must log in using the exact full name used during registration. Nicknames, aliases, initials, company names, or unidentified usernames shall not be admitted.

    7.2. Identity Verification and Admission Control
    The Organizer reserves the right to verify identity based on registration records and may deny entry, place in the waiting room, or remove any individual whose displayed name does not match the registration data until proper identification is provided.

    7.3. Camera-On Requirement
    Cameras must remain ON at all times during Online Events to verify identity, attendance, and single-participant access.

    7.4. Permitted Breaks
    Cameras may be turned off only during:

    Official breaks declared by the Organizer or speaker; or

    Short walking or comfort breaks not exceeding ten (10) minutes per instance, provided such breaks are reasonable in frequency and duration.

    7.5. Excessive Off-Camera Time
    Repeated or prolonged off-camera periods, frequent exits and re-entries, or failure to respond when called upon may be deemed non-attendance or unauthorized access.

    7.6. Access Enforcement
    To preserve Event integrity, the Organizer may place the Registrant in the waiting room, suspend access, or remove the Registrant entirely without refund where there is reasonable belief of:

    • Identity misrepresentation;
    • Shared or multiple access attempts;
    • Presence of unregistered viewers; or
    • Violation of these participation rules.

    7.7. Single-Participant Access
    Online access is strictly limited to one (1) registered participant. Sharing access credentials or permitting others to view the Event is strictly prohibited.

    7.8. Attendance Monitoring
    The Organizer may monitor login activity, camera status, participation behavior, and platform analytics to enforce compliance.

     

    8. Recording of Events and Prohibition of Participant Capture

    8.1. Recording of any Event is subject to the prior approval and sole discretion of the speaker and/or guest lecturer. The Organizer does not guarantee that any session will be recorded.

    8.2. Where recording is approved, the method of access, duration of availability, viewing schedule, replay limits, platform used, and withdrawal of access shall be determined solely at the discretion of the Organizer.

    8.3. Participants are strictly prohibited from recording, photographing, screenshotting, or capturing any portion of the Event, whether audio, video, or still image, by any means or device.

    8.4. This prohibition is strictly enforced due to the possibility that speakers may present confidential, proprietary, clinical, sensitive, or unpublished information not intended for public distribution.

    8.5. Any unauthorized capture constitutes a serious violation of these Terms, intellectual property laws, and privacy regulations and may result in immediate removal without refund and legal action.

     

    9. Changes, Force Majeure, and Program Modifications

    9.1. The Organizer reserves the right to modify Event details, including schedules, speakers, format, or venue.

    9.2. The Organizer shall not be liable for delays or cancellations caused by force majeure events, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, power outages, speaker illness, or venue unavailability.

    9.3. Rescheduling or transfer of registration shall constitute the sole remedy available.

     

    10. Medical Emergencies

    10.1. Registrants participate at their own risk.

    10.2. Any medical emergencies (including fainting, dysmenorrhea, injury, allergic reactions, or illness) and all related expenses (including ambulance services, hospital care, venue charges, or special accommodations) shall be solely at the Registrant’s expense.

     

    11. Conduct and Safety

    11.1. Registrants are required to maintain professional, respectful, and ethical conduct at all times.

    11.2. The Organizer reserves the right to remove any participant whose behavior compromises safety, confidentiality, learning integrity, or Event operations, without refund.

     

    12. Intellectual Property, Speakers, and Anti-Piracy

    12.1. All Event content, including lectures, demonstrations, methodologies, materials, photos, videos, and recordings, are protected intellectual property of the Organizer and/or the speakers.

    12.2. Reproduction, distribution, adaptation, summarization, or commercial use without prior written consent is strictly prohibited.

     

    13. Protection of Patients, Clients, and PHI

    13.1. For any live demonstrations or case presentations involving patients or clients, prior informed consent shall be obtained from the individual or legal guardian.

    13.2. Participant capture of any patient- or client-related content is strictly prohibited.

    13.3. Violations may result in immediate removal and legal action under the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

     

    14. CPD Accreditation 

    14.1. The Organizer may file for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation for selected onsite Events only, subject to the policies and approval of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) or the applicable accrediting body.

    14.2. CPD units, if approved, apply exclusively to participants who attend the Event onsite, live, and in full.
    Attendance via online, virtual, hybrid, livestream, recorded, or partial formats does not qualify for CPD units, without exception.

    14.3. Full-day attendance for the entire duration of the Event is mandatory. Late arrival, early departure, partial attendance, or failure to complete required sessions shall automatically disqualify the Registrant from CPD credit.

    14.4. Registrants are solely responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all CPD-related information, including but not limited to:

    • Correct PRC-registered full name
    • Valid and non-expired PRC license at the time of the Event
    • Accurate license number, profession, and board
    • Proper sign-in and sign-out
    • Completion of all required evaluation forms and documentation

    14.5. CPD submission shall be processed only once. Requests for correction or resubmission shall be entertained only if the error is solely attributable to the Organizer or the PRC, and not due to participant fault, including but not limited to:

    • Misspelled names
    • Incorrect or incomplete license numbers
    • Expired PRC registration
    • Incorrect profession or board
    • Missing sign-in/sign-out records
    • Failure to complete required forms

    14.6. No refund, credit, or claim shall arise from denial, delay, reduction, or modification of CPD accreditation.

     

    15. Data Privacy

    Personal data shall be collected, processed, and stored in accordance with Republic Act No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012).

     

    16. Limitation of Liability

    The Organizer’s total liability, if any, shall be limited to the registration fee paid. No indirect, incidental, or consequential damages shall be claimed.

     

    17. Amendments

    The Organizer may amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

     

    18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

    These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
    All disputes shall be filed exclusively in the proper courts of Silang, Cavite, Philippines.

  • I, with the undersigned name and profession and/or affiliation, hereby authorize ConnectEducation (ConnectED) and Relationship Matters to take images, film, and record the seminars scheduled from February 14-15, 2026. The duration of video recordings will be dependent on the speaker and the participants joining the sessions. I understand and agree that these videos will be used exclusively for educational and training purposes as part of ConnectED and Relationship Matters' presentations and/or workshops. I further agree not to share or publicly release the videos on social media without the written consent of ConnectED and Relationship Matters.

     

    I understand that the recorded videos will be uploaded to a secured and encrypted location. ConnectEd PH and Relationship Matters retain copyright to the content and recordings, and they may potentially be edited for additional training, educational, and marketing purposes.

     

    ConnectED and  Relationship Matters are committed to safeguarding the confidential and proprietary information of participants, guests, and hosts, as well as ensuring the freedom of communication for their employees and audience without fear of being secretly recorded without consent. Various laws, such as Republic Act 8289, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, and Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, prohibit the photo, audio, and video recording of individuals without the consent of all participants during the training and seminars.

     

    Therefore, in order to maintain confidentiality and copyright protection for all information and records, no person should record all or any portion of the sessions of the Course without prior knowledge and consent from the company/ies mentioned herein. Recordings include photos, audio, and/or videos, using any means, including smartphones. Prohibited recording devices encompass, but are not limited to, phones, voice recorders of any kind, video cameras of any kind, and microphones. ConnectED and Relationship Matters reserves the right to refuse any recording requests at its sole discretion.

     

    I acknowledge that the sessions, marketing materials, and any form of media associated with them are intellectual property and copyrighted materials of ConnectED. Additionally, any marketing materials, forms, documents, and designs created and used by ConnectED for the promotion of this course and their social media content are intellectual properties and copyrighted materials solely owned by ConnectED. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary and legal action.
