Award Descriptions:
Business of the Year
This award recognizes a business that contributes to the economic growth and quality of life in the Cortez area, and whose practices and services contribute to making our community a better place to work and live. Some of the specific criteria considered for this award include: exceptional customer service, growth in sales and/or workforce, innovative products and services, response to adversity, employee satisfaction, contributions to community-oriented projects, and use of local resources in business operations.
Citizen of the Year
This award recognizes an individual who has made a positive difference in the lives of fellow citizens. Has a track record of volunteerism and service in our community. Someone who has shown they are dedicated to our community and have regularly given their time and talents to make it a better place.
Distinguished Public Service Award
This award is designed to recognize some of the many great people we have in our community who have dedicated their careers to serving the public. Nominations for the award can be an individual, agency, department, or organization. Anyone from a friendly employee at the DMV to a police officer who went above and beyond the call of duty, as well as, local ambulance crews to entire law enforcement agencies. Any person or group who you think has exemplified public service over this past year or more, can and should be nominated for this award.
