Thanks for wanting to be part of Made.In.Newcastle By The People from Curious Legends!
Made.In.Newcastle is funded by the RISE program from the Federal Government and supported by Newcastle City Council. Our aim is simple - get paid work out to professional artists for cool projects in Newcastle.
Our aim is simple - get paid work out to professional artists for cool projects in Newcastle. The Made.In.Newcastle team is commissioning artists work for up to $500. Funded projects must be run between late August through to December 2021.
- It's a requirement for artists to link up with potential venues to host their project prior to submission. You're welcome to chat through your project before you apply, please email hannah@curiouslegends.com.au .
- This project is to support professional arts practice in Newcastle. This means we will expect you to have an ABN, insurance, documentation of your previous work, and the capacity to submit invoices. We're happy to support emerging artists, please get in touch before applying if you do not have the above documentation.
- Documentation for your previous work is essential - let us know who you are, and what you've done. There is capacity in this form to upload images & video, though we recommend video links to Youtube or Vimeo whenever possible.
- Each artist involved will be sent a contract. You will get paid when your work is completed, after you send us an invoice, filled out our feedback form, and provide us with documentation of your work (i.e., images/video of what you have done, etc.)
- While we're super excited to include as many artists as possible, putting in this application is not a guarantee you will get paid work. Our funds are limited, and we're working hard to divide up the pie as much as possible.
So - what are we looking for? Small scale interactive activations which can proceed with COVID restrictions. This may include (but is not limited to):
- Musicians playing in cafes or bars for smaller numbers of people
- A visual artist creating art in a cafe for the day
- Subsidised ticket sales in a theatre for smaller numbers of people
- Small scale murals for local businesses
- Script reading/poetry nights
- Workshops that engage the community
- Live performances such as theatre, dance, cabaret etc.
We are providing funding to projects with a budget up to $500. Funds from this project can be used to either pay artists directly, or subsidise your work.
Applications which include additional ticket sales and/or funding from other sources are welcome.
While larger projects which employ wider numbers of artists are welcome, we already have several in the works, so contact us first with your idea before putting in an application if you are including more than a few artists in your idea.
Applications close at midnight on Friday 6th August. We look forward to hearing from you!
