D1 Nation – Youth Football Coach Code of Conduct
Applies to All D1 Nation Hosted Events & Tournaments
1. Athlete Safety Comes First
• Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of every athlete.
• Ensure all athletes are properly equipped, hydrated, and medically cleared.
• Report injuries immediately and remove any athlete showing signs of injury or distress.
• Never use physical punishment or conditioning as retaliation.
2. Sportsmanship & Professional Behavior
• Treat all athletes, parents, officials, and staff with respect.
• Lead by example—no yelling, taunting, profanity, or negative behavior.
• Accept all officials’ decisions without argument or escalation.
• Display calm, positive leadership at all times.
3. Player Development Over Winning
• Focus on teaching fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, and confidence.
• Ensure all athletes receive fair playing opportunities based on effort, attendance, and attitude.
• Avoid “win-at-all-costs” behavior that compromises integrity.
4. Respect for Opponents & Officials
• Shake hands respectfully before and after games.
• Do not question, harass, or intimidate referees or opposing coaches.
• Encourage athletes to maintain respect toward opponents.
5. Zero Tolerance Policy for Abuse
Coaches will NOT engage in:
• Verbal abuse
• Physical confrontation
• Bullying or humiliation
• Threatening language
• Inappropriate communication with players (including social media or private messages)
Any such actions may result in immediate removal from the event.
6. Compliance With Event Rules
• Follow all D1 Nation policies, schedules, sideline rules, and credential requirements.
• Maintain roster and certification accuracy; no illegal or uncertified athletes.
• Use only approved play areas, warmups zones, and sideline spaces.
7. Parent & Team Communication
• Communicate respectfully with parents at all times.
• Address concerns privately—not during games, on the field, or on social media.
• Encourage parents to model good sportsmanship.
8. Integrity & Fair Play
• No cheating, falsifying documents, recruiting players illegally, or manipulating age/grade information.
• No use of tobacco, alcohol, or illicit substances at any youth event.
• Promote honesty and accountability within the team.
9. Positive Coaching Environment
• Foster a team culture built on responsibility, respect, effort, and unity.
• Build athletes up—do not belittle or embarrass them.
• Keep coaching directions constructive and instructional.
10. Consequences for Violations
D1 Nation may take any of the following actions for misconduct:
• Verbal or written warning
• Ejection from a game
• Removal from the event
• Suspension from future events
• Team disqualification (in severe cases)
All decisions by D1 Nation officials are final.
