Nomination President Bio:
Trooper Nina Amos is a life member and has served in the National Association for over 20 years and is the President and Founder of the Greater Denver CO Chapter Buffalo Soldiers, 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry Association. As a member of the National Association her service record speaks for itself:
With great honor she started the Jr. Buffalo Soldiers Program and successfully integrated some of the youth programs of the Denver Chapter into the National Association, two being The Jr. Buffalo Soldier Honor Guard and The Jr. Buffalo Soldiers National Youth Summit.
She was appointed by Past National President, Derrick Davis as the first ever National Youth Coordinator which became the Buffalo Soldiers Corp under Past National President, Willie Edley
After serving in this position for 2 years she was elected as the National Secretary, the position which she held for 6 years.
Then elected National 1st Vice President, the position she has served in for the last 4 years.
Elected by the National Executive Board the Executive Director, she served for 2 years.
2023 She became the 1st Woman to be elected National President of this Great Association since they began in 1966.
As National President she completed the renewing of the Association Bylaws and introduce the new Policy Procedures Manual which is a major part of our association rules and procedures. She as been featured on several podcasts and done many interviews as the National President. She is curently working on the 1st International Museum History and Symposium awards as a way to showcase our Great Militrary History accross the world. Among Trooper Amos' many talents and service to the National Association she also serves as the National Webmaster and is instrumental in keeping the Association updated with the technology that serves its needs. She formed a new Reunion Committee to work closely with each Host Chapter for reunions or the Reunion Committe will find a location and host a reunion.
Her Chapter was started at the urging of 2 of the nations “oldest living original buffalo soldiers” 99-year-old Trooper Turl Covington and 94-year-old Trooper Harold Cole both now deceased.
As a direct descendent of an Original Buffalo Soldier (her Grandfather), their vision is her vision:
1. To Honor the great legacy and contributions of these Great American Heroes,
2. To maintain and help the association as a viable business entity with lasting sustainable partnerships and funding,
3. To continue to enhance our youth programs to make sure our nation’s youth are part of our association so they can understand the existence, legacy, valuable history, and contributions for which we passionate about. Our youth are vital to our future and legacy!
The National 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry Association has recognized and presented her with numerous awards for her contributions and service to the association. In 2014, she and her chapter successfully hosted the 148th Annual Anniversary Reunion Conference for the 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry National Association. For this reunion she created the Hall of Honor, which recognized and paid tribute to our 29 living Original Buffalo Soldiers and designed a Buffalo Soldier Medal of Honor which was presented to 17 “Original Living Buffalo Soldiers” by her Chapters Jr. Troopers. In addition, for this reunion, she led the effort through the State of Colorado and the Colorado History Museum to create a Bronze Memorial Plaque to pay tribute to Trooper Cathay Williams, the only known “Female Buffalo Soldier”. This plaque hangs in the Trinidad Colorado State History Museum Memorial Garden, Trinidad CO., the place where she lived and is believed to have died. Having served under three (3) National Presidents and being encouraged by several of our Original Buffalo Soldiers, and many association members since 2015 asked her to run for the office of National President, she is humbled and honor to serve this great Association as the National President. She represents and believes that the Buffalo Soldiers have truly given us “A Glorious Past and have Blazed a Brilliant Future” with their “Fierce Fighting Spirits” and the ultimate sacrifice of their lives that we can forever be proud of.
Trooper Amos holds two degrees in Computer Science and is a Computer Systems Engineer by profession with over 30 years of vast experience in the Information Technology arena. She has earned numerous professional awards and is a published author with the IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
She is the Owner/CEO of Supreme Suppliers, LLC. A Construction Supply Company that is a state and federal certified minority, women owned DBE Small Business since 2013. As a businesswoman she understands the necessity of sound business practices to maintain and stay viable. She is part of Junior Acchievement and instructs elementary students Financial Awareness and Responsibility.
She is a world traveler and a member of the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale, a community group and Mardi Gras Krewe in New Orleans.
Ms. Amos is a licensed and ordained Minister and serves in Ministry at Friendship Baptist Church of Christ Jesus in Denver, CO. She was the mother of one Son, Marquis, who passed away in 2015.
