Nomination Treasurer Bio:
Larry Thornton, PhD, has been an accountant/controller and a partner in a CPA firm for 30 years. He specializes in non-profit corporations, private foundations, setting up accounting systems, internal controls, grant management; and, board development, acting in the capacity as CFO and other times as interim CEO.
Over the years, Larry was contracted as a consultant and accountant for various
government agencies such as The Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., City ofLos Angeles, County of Los Angeles, Human Health Services, Department of HUD,
Department of Justice and Department of Labor, to name a few.
Real Estate Development Experience:
Larry Thornton is currently on the Board of Directors with the Birmingham Hospital
Veterans Hall to develop 200 homes for Veterans in Woodland Hills, CA.
Past Project Manager in several real estate projects, namely:
Maranatha Ranch – 1980 through 1990, purchased 75 homes from HUD and
refurbished them for low-income families.
Shared Oxford Foundation – 1990 through 2009, developed for Shared Oxford
Foundation sober living homes, 40 beds, for those in recovery.
Ridgeview Ranch Treatment Center – 2009 through 2020, developed for Ridgeview
Ranch Treatment Center, inpatient/residential facilities, 35 beds, for Veterans and others who needed addiction treatment.
