- The nominee treats each player as an individual, remembering that there is a large range of emotional and physical develpment for the same age group.
- The nominee does their best to provide a safe playing situation form their players.
- The nominee provides a sports environment for their team that is free of drugs, tobacco and alcohol and the nominee refrains from there use at all youth sports events.
- The nominee is knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that they coach, teaches the rules to their players.
- The nominee remembers that they are a youth coach, and that the game is for children and not the adults.
