  • Overview: The Deron Cherry Foundation's mission is "Caring for the Kansas City community by supporting local charities.

    Selection Process: Local Community grants range from a minimum of $250 to a maximum of $2,500.

    • The Deron Cherry Foundation board members and/or other team members will review grant requests and make initial funding recommendations on all submitted requests.
    • Organizations will be notified of any decision via e-mail. All funding decisions are final.
    • If an organization is approved, the non-profit will be contacted in order to schedule (subject to availability) a formal recognition event.

    Submission Timeline: August 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026

    Accountability requirements:

    • Submit grant requests using this online form.
    • Non-profit must be in good standing with the IRS and considered a 501(c)(3) for a minimum of 2 years.
    • 501(c)(3) organization must be within the Kansas City Metropolitan area.
    • Non-profit must have tax filings through the previous year.
    • Documentation showing use of money (e.g. receipts, promotion requirements) submitted to the Deron Cherry Foundation by December 18, 2026.
    • The plan for funds must directly impact the community.
    • The Deron Cherry Foundation does NOT approve grants to or for individuals, political organizations or activities, endowments, payroll, or past operating deficits
