  • Youth Volunteer Restrictions: Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer without a supervising adult. Children, 12 and up are welcome to volunteer, but must be accompanied (one-to-one) by an adult, 18 years of age or older.

    Event Description: The Fiesta Especial Royal Court Coronation is a formal celebration of the accomplishments of the royal court members. Each court member is recognized for their campaign funds, contributions and activities in the community, crowned and then they present a check to their chosen charitable organization. The ceremony is followed by a reception in their honor.

    Program Description: Fiesta Especial® by disABILITYsa is an educational outreach program of disABILITYsa. Fiesta Especial® is also an official Fiesta® San Antonio experience created for children and adults with physical, cognitive and developmental differences and the family and friends who love them. Fiesta Especial® creates inclusive and educational experiences engaging individuals with disabilities in the culture, diversity and celebrations of Fiesta® through community instruction and training. Individuals with disabilities and our community are invited to take part in the Royal Court, 5K & Parade and Celebration day experiences.

    Fiesta Especial® programs are organized and hosted by disABILITYsa in partnership with Fiesta® San Antonio, The Fiesta® Carnival (Wade Shows), the City of San Antonio and the City of Windcrest.

    Proceeds from this event are used to purchase the supplies, staff and resources for the Fiesta Especial® Royal Court program.

    • Volunteer Position Descriptions  
    • Event Set-up: Volunteers assist with setting up decorations, photo booth, registration and merchandise tables, etc.

      Parking Lot Attendant: Volunteers will assist in parking cars in alternating parking spots and working closely with Police who will be assisting with the flow of traffic. 

      Parking Lot Greeters/Floaters: Volunteers will hand out a "Coronation Car Kit" and program to each car. Will also walk around the parking lot to ensure people are staying in or right next to their vehicles. 

      Line Up Assistants: Volunteers will make sure the Court member and benefiting organization that are next in the program are out of their vehicles and in place for their crowning and check presentation. Formal Attire Required, assist with the court member and help with stage fright or assist if there was a need for additional assistance. 

      Photographers: Personal Camera Required. Volunteers will capture the moments of court members "getting ready" and volunteers as they set-up for the big event.

      Merchandise Sales: Volunteers assist guest in purchasing Fiesta Especial merchandise, promoting upcoming events, sharing disABILITYsa information and keeping inventory tidy.

      Clean-up: Volunteers assist team with the clean-up and pack-up of the parking lot, decorations, photo booth, merchandise, etc.
