The Disability Vote includes people living with a disability, family members and friends, advocates, educators, professionals, providers, bureaucrats, and supporters. The disability community has a major stake in the outcome of elections. Issues important to people with disabilities must be part of the conversations and barriers to the election process must be resolved.
disABILITYsa is calling on the Disability Sector's organizations, groups, businesses, and advocacy leaders to move forward collectively with 3 objectives:
* Draft questions for City Council & Mayoral candidates to address issues focused on the disability vote and develop a strategy for distribution, response collection, and public dissemination of the information.
* Commit to get people registered to vote.
* Work to remove barriers and create more equitable access to the polls.
This effort is initiated in collaboration and with the support of REV UP Texas and Larry Johnson.
