Please fill in the form below to express an interest in hiring the Art in the Ev exhibition space in The Everyman on Hope Street. Both individual artists and groups may put forward exhibition submissions.
Background:
The Everyman is working with dot-art to curate a rolling programme of exhibitions of local artists work in a new exhibition space on the first floor of the venue. Art work on display will be available to buy through the cafe.
Exhibitors are welcome to staff their exhibitions, but this is not a requirement.
There is a minimum of 11 metres full height hanging space, with another 5 metres extra for small work (above doors and alcoves). In the alcove at the end of the room there is a table with space for table easels, measuring around 3 metres. The exhibition space is ONLY Ev2 (the side room) and the wall directly to the right of the door on the outside, NOT the bar area.
Smaller works may be double hung, but each work must be fixed to two hanging wires.
Application process:
- Artists / groups are invited to complete the form below.
- Exhibitions will last a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 weeks.
Installation / deinstallation:
- Exhibitions will run from Tuesday to Monday, in multiples of 2 weeks (no part weeks).
- Artists will be responsible for transporting their work to the Everyman at the arranged time, not before.
- For installation, artists / groups will meet a member of Everyman staff on the first Tuesday of their exhibition, with their work, where they will be given instructions as to how to use the hanging system.
- Installation MUST be completed between 1-5pm and is the responsibility of the artist / group NOT Everyman staff.
- All work must be strung across the back ready for hanging using the professional hanging system installed.
- dot-art will produce exhibition information sheets for each exhibition, to be available to the public in reception and in the exhibition space.
- Artists / groups MUST deinstall their work on the Tuesday following their exhibition period between 9am-1pm. Work cannot be stored after the end date.
Sales process:
- Art work can be for sale.
- Visitors will be able to purchase work through staff in the Everyman cafe or box office.
- Staff will be able to remove work from display if customers wish to take work straight away.
- Core theatre opening hours are Tuesday - Friday 11am-3pm (and Saturdays ONLY when show is on). The building MAY be open more than this during your exhibition period, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Finance:
- The hire fee for the Art in the Ev exhibition space is £150 per 2 week block.
- If you or your group are unable to pay this fee, there may be some weeks during the year where the space can be utilised for free, so get in touch.
- No commission will be taken on sales.
- dot-art will collect payment from artist / group in advance for the hire fee.
- At the end of each exhibition, dot-art will provide a sales report to the artist / group and pay all sales via BACS transfer.
Other:
- Exhibiting artists will need to arrange their own Public Liability Insurance, to cover both their installation of the exhibition, and any potential harm that could come to the public as a result of the exhibition. We recommend a-n (Artists Newsletter) https://www.a-n.co.uk/about/insurance/ who offer insurance as part of their annual membership, which costs just £38.
- While dot-art and the Everyman will take every possible precaution against damage or loss, they cannot be held responsible for such.
