Alexis is a designer and artist whose work is rooted in a lifelong fascination with buildings, history, and the layered stories embedded in everyday places. Based in Liverpool, his practice focuses on urban landscapes, capturing not just how the city looks, but how it feels to move through it.
Working in richly layered mixed media, Alexis combines drawing, collage, monotype, wax resist, and bold colour to create pieces with striking contrasts in tone and texture. His process begins with walks through the city - early mornings or evenings, absorbing its atmosphere before translating these impressions into dynamic compositions in the studio.
The prize draw piece is one of Alexis’ distinctive “map pictures”—a vivid, expressive reimagining of Liverpool. Rather than a literal map, it’s a kind of mental heat map: a personal, emotional response to place. Familiar landmarks like the Liver Building and Town Hall emerge within a collage of abstracted forms, neon tones, and textured surfaces. At its centre, the old banking district around Castle Street hums with energy, reflecting its transformation into a lively social hub.
Both analytical and romantic, Alexis’ work invites you to see the city differently and to notice the beauty, history, and hidden character in its streets.
