Dear Applicant:

The Hayman Family is thrilled to announce our collegiate scholarship, the Conway Holmes Hayman and Gary Wesley Hayman Memorial Scholarship (CHH & GWH Scholarship).  The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving college-bound high school athlete.

The $1500 scholarship is open to a senior high school athlete (female or male) attending Appoquinimink, Brandywine, Caesar Rodney, Cape Henlopen, Capital, Christina, Colonial, Delmar, Indian River, Lake Forest, Laurel, Milford, New Castle County Vocational-Technical, PolyTECH, Red Clay, Seaford, Smyrna, Sussex Technical, Woodbridge and Charter School Districts in Delaware who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university.  Special consideration will be given to student applicants who are leaders and active members of their high school community.

Note that the CHH & GWHMS Selection Committee reserves the right to request additional information from scholarship applicants in the event that more information is necessary to determine a scholarship recipient for the year.

2025 Timeline

January 1st     Applications accepted

April 1st        Application deadline: 5 p.m. EST, No exceptions

April 30th        All applicants will be notified of scholarship decision

Who Can Apply

The scholarship is open to any student who meets the criteria.  The scholarship will be awarded to a well rounded graduating high school athlete (female or male) who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university.

The CHH & GWH Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior.  The scholarship award may be used towards the costs of tuition, books, room and board, and mandatory school fees.  The scholarship award will be based on financial need or Expected Family Contribution (EFC).  The anticipated award for 2025 will be $1,500.00 per year.

 
Application Eligibility Requirements 

• Minimum GPA of 2.0
• High school athletic experience for at least one year
• Two reference letters (for example, from a coach, teacher or leader in community-no family reference letters)
• Official high school transcript
• Proof of acceptance to an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university

• NO LATE OR INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER: APRIL 1, 2025. 
• THE ONLY ITEM ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE IS A FINAL HIGH SCHOOL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. 
• NO SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE AWARDED WITHOUT RECEIPT OF FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT. 
• ALL APPLICATION ATTACHMENTS NEED TO BE UPLOADED AS A PDF FILE. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED IN MULTIPLE FILES EXCEPT NOTED BELOW.
• FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS WILL BE ACCEPTED SEPARATELY WITH THE APPLICANT’S NAME IN THE SUBJECT OF THE EMAIL.  SEND TO: Dr.DRHayman@gmail.com.

FINAL CHECKLIST

2.  FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT, IF AVAILABLE;

3.  TWO(2) REFERENCE LETTERS;

4.  PROOF OF ACCEPTANCE TO ACCREDITED 2 OR 4 YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY.

OFFICIAL FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS MAY BE SENT SEPARATELY IF NOT AVAILABLE AT TIME OF APPLICATION SUBMIISSION.
