Event Description:
Since 1947, the Tampa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has designed programs to support and empower the Tampa Bay community. The Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (EMBODI) program falls under Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s 5-Point Programmatic Thrust of Educational Development and is designed to uplift African-American males by addressing issues facing middle and high school-aged African American males. Issues related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, culture, self-efficacy, leadership, physical and mental health, healthy lifestyle choices, character, ethics, relationships, college readiness, fiscal management, civic engagement, and service learning are explored during this year-long program.
For this event in particular, our guest speaker and panelists will have the opportunity to share their expertise/personal experience with our target-audience of middle and high school-aged young men. The discussion will range across topics including interpersonal relationships, emotional intelligence, social justice, and other issues that align with our program’s mission.
