In this teaching, Dorzin Dhondrup Rinpoche will teach from the notes from the Oral Instructions of Dharmakirti, particularly on the Preliminaries of the fivefold path of Mahamudra also known as Sagchen Ngondro in Tibetan. Apart from this, Dorzin Dhondrup Rinpoche is also integrating teachings imparted from H.E. Garchen Rinpoche on the preliminaries into these sessions.
The Ngondro text that is used for the practice of the preliminaries is compiled by Garchen Rinpoche and is also in accordance with the structure of Dharmakirti’s Oral Instructions, while some other lines are taken from the instructions of other learned and accomplished masters of the past, at the request of Dorzin Dhondrup Rinpoche thinking that it would benefit many.
Lord Jigten Sumgon stated, “Ngondro is even more profound than other practices.” It has also been said that sincerely practicing only Ngondro will lead to enlightenment since all mind training techniques leading to enlightenment are included within it!
