The Educational and Charitable Foundation ("ECF") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the Northern Virginia community, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Lambda Kappa Omega Chapter, by providing community services, educational programs, and philanthropic priorities.
Applicant must reside in one of the following areas of Northern Virginia: Fairfax County, City of Fairfax, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Arlington County, City of Alexandria, City of Manassas, Manassas Park, and the City of Falls Church.
- Applicant must be Black/African American, graduating in the class of 2025.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must attend a Historically Black College or University.
- Must show demonstrated leadership ability in the school and community.
- Must have participated in community service projects.
Application Deadline
All materials must be received on or before December 15, 2024.
Completed applications shall include the following:
- Current official student transcript that includes the most recent grades.
- Two Letters of Recommendation - One must be from a counselor or teacher.
- Parental/Guardian Contact Information
- 200-250 Word Essay Response

The HBCU Scholarship is meant to offset the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment for a graduating senior (U.S. citizens only) who will be a full-time college student beginning Fall 2025.
Awards will be disbursed directly to the college or university in August 2025. Funds may be applied to offset books and other academic supplies.
