Attributes, opportunities, and characteristics you are looking for in a College
We often talk about what we want in a college. With this priorities' assessment, we hope to start a conversation on the type of college setting you are hoping for, academic programs, size, special interests, geographic locations, cost, and scholarship opportunities, among other topics related to your college list.

We will also try to help you focus on your top priorities. Identifying these college priorities will help us evaluate choices as we develop a list of colleges to apply to, and later on, as we evaluate admissions offers.

HOW IMPORTANT IS EACH COLLEGE ATTRIBUTE

In this section, you will need to explain what aspects related to each college attribute are important to you. Please be thorough. The more information you provide, the better we will understand the type of colleges that are appropriate for you.

Please explain what you consider will be your college major. What career do you see yourself pursuing? What areas of study/courses are your best at present time? Are you considering a pre-professional program (like art, business, engineering, nursing, architecture, pre-med, pre-dental, pre-law, pre-pharmacy, other?) Be specific

Please explain if your family is flexible with cost or not. Indicate if you know the family's limit regarding your total annual payment of tuition and living expenses (up to $20K, $40K, $60K, +$80K). Please explain how important it is for you to attend a highly prestigious institution with a "brand" name. Will you choose a college with a more prestigious name instead of one with a stronger program in your major? Which colleges with prestigious names are you considering and why? Be specific

Please explain where you would like to be located. Where NOT? How far from home is fine? Would you like them to be in a city? Which city? In a suburb close to a city? In a college town? In a rural area? Located internationally? In the Northeast, Midwest, South, or another region of the country? Not in a specific city? In places with a warm climate? Cold climate? Be specific
How important is geographic location to you?
SIZE OF COLLEGE/PROGRAM
Please explain what is the ideal campus size for you: SMALL (up to 3K students), MEDIUM SIZE (from 4K to 15K), LARGER (from 15K to 30K), HUGE (from 30K and on). Tell us your range for the number of students you think would be ideal. Maybe college size doesn't matter to you? Do you think you do better in a smaller or larger college, or will this not affect your performance? Do you want to be in a college with a strong sense of community or does this not matter much to you? Be specific

Do you want to go to a party school? Where do you feel you would perform best, in a competitive environment? Or a collaborative one? Do you thrive on pressure? Please explain if you'd like to attend a college that has a religious affiliation (a religious college like a Jesuit or an Orthodox Jewish university, for example). Please state if you have dietary restrictions (religious or other). What are your religious needs? Would you consider attending a Women's only or Men's only college, or not? Be specific

Please explain if you are considering an accelerated medical school program, if you think you will need resources for learning differences, if you'd like to engage in co-op programs, if you will need to work while you complete their college education in support of family finances. We'd like to know if you are interested in colleges that allow you the freedom to design your own major, or if you'd like a very structured education (or if this doesn't matter to you). Be specific
