Join Eli's Block Party in raising awareness during the month of September of the number one killer of children by disease. Childhood Cancer strikes 43 kids each day in the U.S. with a new diagnosis. That's two full classrooms every day that hear devastating, life-changing news. Six children lose their lives every day to the disease.
The National Cancer Institute gives less than 4% of it's funding to this killer, and the American Cancer Society less than 1%. Eli's Block Party seeks out innovative childhood cancer research that shows promise in finding less harsh treatment and a cure. The all-volunteer organization applies the money it raises directly to that promising effort. This year, EBP is raising money for Dr. Greg Friedman at Children's of Alabama for his promising work in immunotherapy.
Raising awareness is the key to funding. Funding is the key to a cure. Help us raise awareness by decorating your business windows or storefront for childhood cancer month and draw attention to Superhero Fun Day, a community event that raises money for Eli's Block Party.
Have fun with it! Dress as Superheroes, or wear capes to work on Friday the 11th. Engage your customers or clients with a fundraiser for Eli's Block Party. Post your efforts on your social media and help us spread the word about Superhero Fun Day.
We are asking that decorations be put in place by September 1 and remain until September 30. The childhood cancer color is gold, so we ask that the window decorations be predominately gold in color or contain a gold cancer ribbon, and be Superhero themed with "Eli's Block Party" prominently displayed along with the date for Superhero Fun Day, September 12th. The kind of supplies or mediums you use to decorate your window or storefront is up to you (window paint, or display, etc.). We will feature all windows in a group on our social media and invite everyone to visit your establishment.
This activity is free to enter, we just want you to join us in raising awareness and to have fun doing it. However, fundraising efforts to engage your customers and clients is a great way to raise awareness and help us donate more of what we raise to childhood cancer research. Superhero Day is free for the community to attend, and we want to keep it that way. We rely on donations to raise money for childhood cancer research.
