Terms and Conditions
Please read thoroughly and carefully the following items intended to explain the terms and conditions of our school.
1.The Escuela Mayaguezana de Ballet y Artes Escenicas, Eugenio Maria de Hostos (EMBAE), does not discriminate on the basis of race, disability, religion, sexual orientation, health, ethnic origin, creed, age or national origin.
2. Any person who enters our facilities must follow the health protocol established by the school to prevent COVID-19. The use of masks is mandatory without exception.
3. Parents or relatives of the student may NOT enter the classroom unless it is an exhibition class or it has been previously authorized by the teacher and/or school director.
4. Being registered as an EMBAE student does not guarantee participation in the scheduled artistic events and performances.
5. EMBAE is NOT a social club, it is a non-profit organization established to provide high quality education in the field of the Performing Arts. Therefore, order must be kept at all times and students as well as their friends adn family members must be respectful at all times within our premises, in classes, rehearsals and activities/events. Failure to do so may result in the student being expelled from the rehearsal venue, class, or scheduled activity.
6. It is important to understand that a student's discipline starts with the use of their uniform. School uniforms must be worned as assigned, according to the class/level. NO jeans or accessories are allowed for ballet lessons. Female students must wear tight with their leotard and must have their hair tied in a bun for ballet classes. Simple makeup is allowed for intermediate to advanced levels. Failure to comply with the uniform policy established herein will result in a verbal warning. On the second warning, the student will be fined $2.00, on the third, $5.00 and on the fourth warning, the student will not be able to participate in class.
7. All participants are responsible for the costumes and props lent to them by the school. If these are broken or damaged the participant will need to cover all costs associated with its repair. Costumes and props must not be destroyed, stollen and/or used for any other purpose than its intended use.
8. For the safety of our students, appropriate dance shoes must be worn as required by the corresponding class. Damaged or worn out dance shoes will not be allowed in class (for example: dead pointe shoes).
9. Under no circumstances can students teach the choreography or music to individuals outside of the organization. This is considered plagiarism and EMBAE and its staff are protected under Law #96 of Registration of Intellectual Property created on July 15, 1988.
10. If any student of our organization is invited to participate in artistic activities outside of EMBAE, whether it is representing EMBAE or as an individual, they must inform and request consent and approval of the director. (This includes and is not limited to: talent shows, dance videos, dance classes, trips, auditions, and more)
11. EMBAE, its board of directors, its workforce and sponsors are NOT responsible for any accident that occurs due to non-compliance to the rules established by the school and are exempt from any lawsuit or legal action. We strongly recommend enrolling under EMBAE's accident insurance policy to ensure coverage in the case of any eventuality.
12. If any participant decides to leave the organization, they must deliver everything that belongs to the organization and comply with the registration agreement.
13. Your participation in our organization authorizes EMBAE, WBT Company and their staff to take photos and videos of the students, classes and presentations for publicity purposes and to use these as evidence of community, artistic and cultural outreach in social media, websites, written press, television, among other sources of advertising.
14. All information provided to EMBAE will be completely confidential and used for administrative purposes only.
15. The agreement signed with the school during registration must be fulfilled even if the student decides to leave the school. This includes fulfillment of all payments as agreed.
16. All these terms and conditions are subject to change without prior notice.
