Mitigation access roads and pathways needs to made to assure better evacuation routes
Roads in my neighborhood need improving
Improvement of water and sewer systems
Improvement of electricity and technology wires/lines
De-privatize water systems so theres more water for residents
Make public utility infrastructure more safe (disaster resistant)

Funds should be used to help build commercial and industrial spaces
Workers working on CDBG-DR funded projects should have competitive wages and benefits
Workers working on CDBG-DR funded projects should be local (from Maui) before sourcing outside of Maui
Grant/Loans for small business owners
Paid training and apprenticeships for residents
Create business incubators to encourage more locally owned businesses

The County should have plans to prevent future fires and other disasters
The County and State should address natural environmental issues (water restoration, reforestation, etc.)
More information needs to be provided to all residents that is more convenient and familiar
There should be a communication or notification service that warns residents of imminent disasters
Neighborhoods needs to be less dense (less people) so roadways and escape routes aren't congested
Building should have better plan including improved spacing and/or use of fire-resistant materials

What mitigation or prevention measures can the County of Maui take to make sure Lahaina is better prepared for a natural disaster in the future?
