Hello!
I'm Erin, aka ELF. You can find out more about me at erinlewisfitzgerald.com and see examples of my work on Instagram (@erinlewisfitzgerald).
In order to assess whether I can mend your item(s), I need some key information from you, including clear photographs of the item and the damage.
You will have a chance to save this form and come back to it later if you need more time.
Before we start, here is some key information about this mending service:
I work predominantly from home.
I have two small children and am unable to arrange visits to my home.
In-person appointments can be made 10am-4pm on Mondays and Fridays only, when I work from my shared office space in Brunswick (Naarm/Melbourne, Australia). Appointments may be arranged after form submission.
Accepted items can be dropped off in Northcote or Brunswick, or sent by mail.
Cost & timeframe
My minimum fee is $120 + materials (if required) + postage or travel costs (if required).
It is always cheaper to mend things yourself, and I have an online shop with beginner-friendly mending supplies and books if you would like to try.
I also teach mending workshops and wrote a book called Modern Mending that I use as my class textbook.
My wait time is approximately two months (good things take time!). Once I receive a request form, I will read it and respond with a summary of what's possible and what those options might cost. If you wish to proceed, I will add you to my client queue and send you another email with instructions for drop-off when it's closer to repair time.
Commissions I won't accept
- Clothing alterations
- Outdoor gear
- Leather (or similar) shoes -- fabric shoes may be considered
- Zipper repairs
- Items that compromise my health and safety -- please wash clothing before drop-off
- Items that may contaminate my workspace, e.g. woollen items with moth eggs that have not yet been treated appropriately
"Invisible" mending
I cannot promise invisible mending and generally don't offer it to clients for a number of reasons, including more stress and less fun for me. I love getting creative and making things better than new, so you love them even more than before.
But I do make the occasional exception, when it is possible and there's a valid reason for doing it. If an invisible-as-possible mend is a dealbreaker for you, please let me know in the form.
One item per form
Please submit only one request per form. If you have multiple items you'd like to be considered for this mending service, you will need to submit additional forms.
Thank you!
ELF
