Looking after your tattoo is just as important as the tattooing process, if you would like yours to heal well, please follow these instructions:
1- Second Skin Method
I will more than likely wrap your tattoo with something called Second Skin.
Second Skin is a self adhesive breathable bandage.
If your tattoo is wrapped in second skin, then please leave this cover on for up to a 7 days.
You are more than welcome to take it off sooner than this, but the first 72 hours are the most important to keep it on for. As in this time your tattoo is still an open wound and susceptible to infection by things getting into it that shouldn’t (ie pet hair, dust, dirt, especially if you have a manual job)
If the corners of the badge start to come loose, you can cut them off and leave the rest of the dressing in place as long as the tattoo itself is still completely covered. If the dressing comes away so much that the tattoo becomes exposed, please take it off and follow the steps in section 2.
You can still shower with Second Skin on, but do keep in mid that it is water resistant and not waterproof.
When you come to removing your dressing, you will want to take it off in the shower. Make sure the water is warm but NOT hot.
Start by getting hold of the loosest edge, and very slowly and gently pulling down against the skin (like a command hook on the wall)
If this is hard to visualise, here’s a great little YouTube video on how to take it off!

PLEASE NOTE - your tattoo will bleed and push out excess ink over the first few days of healing, this liquid may sit under the bandage. This is completely normal, please don’t panic!
2 - Clingfilm Method
Please leave your clingfilm on for minimum an hour after your appointment. If you aren’t going straight home after your appointment, please wait until you are home to remove the clingfilm.
Once you are ready to take it off, please make sure your hands are clean before touching anything. I recommend washing your hands with antibacterial soap before you begin to remove the clingfilm.
Once you have taken the clingfilm off, you will need to wash your new tattoo. Please do not get in a bath to do this, if you can’t reach it with the sink tap, then use the shower.
Wash your tattoo with warm (not too hot) water and antibacterial soap, preferably something unscented.
Once washed, you mat gently pat it dry with clean kitchen roll but do not use towel, no matter how clean you think it is! Or you can leave it to air dry (I think this is the best option)
Clean your tattoo every 4-5 hours, and rewrap with fresh clingfilm each time. Do this for a minimum of two days & nights.
Following this, with clean hands, apply a thin layer of recommended aftercare for the next 2-3 weeks.
Please do this 2 or 3 times a day. But make sure not to smother the tattoo with cream as you do not want to suffocate it.
PLEASE NOTE - Ink and some blood will come out of your tattoo for the first few days of healing, be aware this could ruin your bedsheets or clothes.
