FAULKNER COUNTY FAIR QUEEN & JR. FAIR QUEEN COMPETITIONS
An Official Preliminary to the Arkansas State Fair
QUALIFICATIONS & RULES
Contestants for Jr. Fair Queen must be at least 14 years of age and no more than a Junior in High School. All Contestants must be no more than 18 years of age by the date of our local pageant.
A contestant must be a resident of Faulkner County, enrolled in post-secondary education, or enrolled in an institution of higher education within Faulkner County before competing and be able to prove proof of residency in Faulkner County.
A contestant must have been born a female and a legal resident of Faulkner County, Arkansas. She cannot be/become, or at any time have been, married, pregnant, or have had a child. A contestant must not have ever been convicted of any crime or have any criminal charges pending.
Entry forms must be filled out completely and signed by authorized parties.
Competition: Each contestant will participate in Private Interview, Active Wear, and Evening Gown competitions. Contestants will need the following clothing: Private Interview – Contestants should dress as she is interviewing for a job. Appropriate dress for the interview may be a suit, casual dress, or jumpsuit. Active Wear – Consist of Contestants wearing black spandex shorts or black spandex capris, a sports bra or a sports tank (the color of your choice). Evening Gown – Contestants should choose an evening gown of choice. The choice of the gown should be age appropriate
Interview – Interviews will begin before the pageant on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM. Please arrive on time to the expo center at 8 AM to check in. It is imparitive we begin interviews on time so the pageant will start on time. If over a certain ammount of contestants enter, we will make an adjustment on this schedule. The Interview will account for 40 percent of the contestant’s total score. All interviews will be five minutes long and will be timed and monitored. The Judges and Contestants are not allowed to shake hands or have any physical contact. This phase of competition will be judged on eye contact, posture, personality, style, ability to converse, vocabulary, and grammar.
Active Wear – Active Wear will account for 15 percent of a contestant’s score. This phase of competition will be judged on physical fitness, energy level, proportion of figure, posture, poise personality, stage presence, eye contact and confidence.
Evening Gown – The Evening Gown Competition will account for 25 percent of a contestant’s total score. Judging will be based on over-all first impression, beauty, stage presence, personality, grace, charm, walk, appropriateness of evening gown and overall appearance.
On-stage Question – The On-stage Question will account for 20 percent of a contestant’s total score. This phase of competition will be judged on her ability to answer confidently, as well as her tone of voice and how she presents herself, eye contact, grammar and can she answer on the spot.
Photogenic (Optional) - Pictures may be 8 x 10 or smaller, color or black/white. All photos must be uploaded to this entry form. DO NOT MAIL PHOTO OR BRING ONE. Just simply upload it if you choose to enter photogenic. Only one photo will be accepted per contestant.
A Dressing Area will be provided for contestants. Contestants ONLY will be allowed in the dressing room. It is recommended that make-up be done at home if possible. No men will be allowed in the dressing area. No Exceptions. No visitors will be allowed in the dressing area including hairdressers, make-up artists, talent coaches, family, or friends. NO CELL PHONES WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE DRESSING AREA. Violation of this rule will be an automatic disqualification.
Fair Queen Duties – The Fair Queen is highly encouraged to ride in the Faulkner County Fair Parade and will be lined up towards the beginning of the parade. The winner will also compete at the Arkansas State Fair Pageant, and represent Faulkner County on Thursday, October 20th. If you advance, you will compete again in the finals on Saturday, October 22nd. During the week of the Faulkner County Fair, the winner will be asked to assist the Faulkner County Fair Board, at the Fair, where needed (presenting awards, posing for photos, helping, etc.). We encourage the Fair Queen to represent Faulkner County during her reign when possible. The reigning Faulkner County Fair Queen must always conduct herself properly. Inappropriate behavior bringing unfavorable publicity to herself and/or the Faulkner County Fair, may result in the Faulkner County Fair Queen relinquishing her title and the forfeiture and return of all prizes and monetary awards.
Any display of bad sportsmanship and/or unbecoming conduct, any interference and/or disturbance, foul language, or any other behavioral problem created by a contestant, parent, relative or supporter of a contestant could result in disqualification of the contestant not only from this year’s pageant but all future contests.
Only the contestant and one parent/guardian will be allowed free admission. There will be a $5.00 charge at the door, Children 10 and under will be free.
No formal rehearsal will be held. Contestants may practice 1 hour before the pageant starts, during check-in time. The Active wear walk will be a figure 8.
The Faulkner County Fair Talent & Pageant Director and or Faulkner County Fair Board reserve the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of or connected with, or incident to the contest, and the right to amend or add to these rules as their judgement may determine. Any contestant who fails to abide by any of the above rules can be disqualified from the competition by the Faulkner County Fair Talent & Pageant Director or Faulkner County Fair Board.
The Faulkner County Fair is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged property. Please treat the facility with the upmost respect and clean-up after yourself when the event is over.
The Faulkner County Talent and Pageant Director choose fair and impartial judges. Contestant and/or parents are not to approach the judges at any time. Their decision will be final.
