Applications are now open for the esteemed Virginia Noonan Award, named after one of our much respected Life Members.
Many current Financial Counsellors owe much of their knowledge in the field to the pioneering training run by Virginia in the early 90's long before any tertiary courses existed. Virginia is still actively involved in the sector as an FCRC Supervisor.
The award is for a full member of the FCRC who has demonstrated excellence in service to our profession or their clients over and above their normal duties as a Financial Counsellor.
Examples could include but are not limited to:
Successful advocacy and input into a test case to alter policy or legislation in regard to a financial or consumer issue
Resolving an extremely complex Financial Counselling case with far reaching implications, resulting in systemic change
Developing and presenting innovative Community Development/Education initiatives
Serving on boards or committees in the consumer advocacy space
Nominators must provide a summary of why their colleague would be a worthy recipient of the award. In addressing the criteria, nominators could outline how the nominee has helped their community over and above their job description as a financial counsellor. Nominators may attach additional pages and supporting materials.
The nominee does not need to be notified of their nomination. We do however encourage you to disclose your nomination to ensure that the person you intend to nominate accepts the nomination.
Presentation: The award is to be presented at the FCRC Conference Dinner, 10 October 2019.
The recipient does not need to be present at the awards presentation in order to be eligible. A proxy can accept the award on the recipient's behalf. It is up to the nominator to arrange this beforehand.
The FCRC Board, in consultation with Virginia Noonan, will consider nominations in light of relevant criteria and information supplied in the nomination form and attachments.
Once a decision is made, no further correspondence will entered into as to how it was arrived at.
The closing date for nominations is 25 September 2019
The Financial and Consumer Rights Council thanks Virginia Noonan for her support of this award.
