Youth Commission Firstep Scholarship Application
The Federal Way Youth Commission established the FirStep Scholarship in 2019 to award funds to youth who are unable to afford recreational activities. Participant must be between ages 12 and 17 to qualify for The Firstep Scholarship Program.

Scholarship Funds CANNOT be used for FWCC Swim Lessons.
EXPLANATION OF FUNDING
- One recreation program / FWCC 3 month membership per application
- Youth Commission will award up to $1000 per quarter (January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December)
Scholarship is not retroactive and cannot be applied toward previous registrations and/or membership payments.

Funds are awarded at the discretion of theYC and may not be at the full price of the requestor.

Applications may take up to 5 business days to process.

VERIFICATION OF NEED
Participants applying for the FirStep Scholarship must meet the eligibility criteria by providing documentation for BOTH of the listed items below. This can be done by attaching the necessary files to the email upon submission, uploading them to the digital submission form, or including photocopies with a paper submission.
- Photo Copy of School ID
- City of Federal Way Fee Reduction Application Approval OR Current Free or Reduced Eligibility Status Approval through Federal Way Public Schools
