  • Fuel Her Flight Initiative Scholarship Eligibility & Description

    The Fuel Her Flight Initiative, presented by the Femme Forward Flight Foundation Inc., supports ambitious women pursuing transformative study abroad experiences that expand cultural understanding, academic growth, and global opportunity.

    This scholarship is designed to help remove financial barriers associated with international education and empower students to pursue their goals with confidence. It includes:

    • Roundtrip airfare assistance to and from the study abroad destination
    • Access to 24/7 mentorship and support while abroad
    • Opportunity to receive weekly stipends in exchange for submitted journal entries as part of our Jetsetter Journal documenting your study abroad experience and personal growth journey

    Read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application. All winners will be notified on or before the 30th of August 2026 for Fall Semester or December 1st for Winter Semester.

    Eligibility Requirements
    Applicants must:

    • Identify as female
    • Be a current U.S. citizen
    • Have a valid U.S. passport (cannot expire within 6 months)
    • Be enrolled at an accredited college or university
    • Be accepted into an accredited study abroad program prior to receiving funds
    • Be entering or currently studying as a junior, senior, or graduate student during the study abroad term
    • Demonstrate academic commitment, leadership potential, and a passion for global learning
    • Preference may be given to students participating in:
      • Language immersion or foreign language coursework abroad
      • Programs emphasizing cultural exchange, international leadership, or global engagement

    Recipients will be selected based on the strength of their application essay, academic and extracurricular involvement, study abroad goals, and demonstrated financial need or personal motivation.

  • If selected, you will be asked for documentation to support the data you provide. Likewise, all correspondence and award agreements will be generated from the personal information submitted below. So, please use proper spelling, capitalization and punctuation.

  • The Fuel Her Flight initiative scholarship is only eligible for students already accepted into an accredited university's study abroad program. Eligible applicants must be current sophomore students and above. College Freshmen and high school students are not eligible at this time.

  • IV. ACT Information

  • ACT/SAT scores are not required for scholarship eligibility. However, providing an ACT/SAT score can increase the likelihood of your selection as compared to other candidates.

  • All scholarship applicants reporting an ACT/SAT score will be asked to provide official verification.

  • Femme Forward Flight Foundation Inc. administers scholarships designed to offer aid to students that represent unique characteristics. Please check each of the qualifiers below that apply to you. This data may increase your likelihood of qualifying for selected scholarships. Please note, if you are awarded a scholarship based on any of these qualifiers, you will be asked to produce documentation verifying your unique eligibility.

  • Please submit an essay of 500–750 words responding to the following:

    At the Femme Forward Flight Foundation, we believe travel and global experiences have the power to expand perspectives, build confidence, and create meaningful opportunities for young women pursuing their dreams.

    In your essay, please share:

    1. Why studying abroad is important to you and how international travel aligns with your personal, academic, and career goals.
    2. What you hope to gain from a study abroad experience, including cultural, educational, or professional opportunities.
    3. How the Fuel Her Flight Initiative scholarship would help remove financial or personal barriers to pursuing your goals.
    4. How you plan to use your experiences abroad to make an impact in your community, future career, or the lives of others.
    5. Any academic achievements, leadership experiences, extracurricular involvement, community service, personal challenges, or life experiences that make you a strong candidate for this opportunity.
