Condenser Water Filtration for Open Cooling Tower Systems
Presented by
Dennis Jamison
Regional Sales Manager | Puroflux Corporation
This training session explores the importance of condenser water filtration in open cooling tower systems and how effective filtration helps protect system performance, efficiency, and equipment life. Participants will learn why cooling towers act as “air scrubbers,” continuously introducing airborne dirt, debris, and contaminants into condenser water systems, and how unmanaged particulate can negatively impact heat transfer, water quality, maintenance costs, and overall system reliability.
The course will cover the sources and effects of particulate contamination, including airborne debris, process contaminants, and water quality challenges commonly found in open-loop cooling systems. Attendees will gain an understanding of how particulate buildup affects chillers, heat exchangers, piping, valves, and cooling tower operation.
Participants will review the operating principles, advantages, limitations, and ideal applications for each filtration type to better understand how to select the right solution for specific system conditions.
Additional discussion will focus on the operational and financial benefits of filtration systems, including improved heat transfer efficiency, reduced equipment fouling, lower maintenance costs, extended equipment life, and enhanced system reliability. The session concludes with an interactive Q&A to address application challenges, system-specific concerns, and best practices for maintaining clean and efficient condenser water systems.
Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be offered for attending this training session.
