Business Health Assessment

My company has a clear understanding of what we sell, who our customer is, how we satisfy the customers' needs, and why we are in business*

1 = weak, 5 = strong

Our business plan is written down and has been updated and reviewed in the last 6 months*

The company has clearly defined goals?*

We make a profit? (profit being defined as money left over after all bills are paid INCLUDING the owners compensation)*

The company does not hold any debt?*

1 - debt on lots of things, 3 - debt on vehicles, equipment or property only, 5 - no debt

The owner (or owners) is being compensated appropriately (if you had to hire someone to do all the jobs you do).*

1 - well underpaid, 3 - paid ok but would take another job, 5 - people would kill to make what I make and do what I do.

The company has good people employed?*

1 - they steal, lie, show up late, etc, 3 - they are ok but no loyalty, 5 - rock stars!

We have consistent work?*

1 - big variability from going out of business to too much work, 3 - not bad, 5 - like a well oiled machine

Our marketing plan is working well?*

1 - what's marketing?, 3 - seems to work sometimes but not sure, 5 - I know where every dollar goes and what it brings backs when it returns.

We receive lots of referrals.*

We close most of our deals (percentage of customers who purchase after proposal)?*

1- 10%, 3 - 25%, 5 - 60% or greater

We have a defined process for how we produce our work?*

We receive positive reviews from our work*

I'm a good leader? My people know what I expect and I'm able to spend enough time with them to develop their skills?*

My team has clearly defined roles and responsibilities? We go over those roles and responsibilities on a regular basis.*

1 - nope, 3 - mostly, 5 - you should call me to coach you!

I know my numbers (Key Performance Indicators)?*

My company has a budget and financial plan?*

I am able to make payroll, pay my vendors and have enough money for a rainy day.*

I own my company?*

1 - my company owns me, 3 - somewhat, 5 - darn right!

If I was an investor, knowing what I know, I would buy my company today?*

1 - NOPE, 3 - for the right price, 5 - good money and worth every penny
