Discovery Labs (M, Thu, Fri) - students come to the Aquarium & complete a hands-on lesson:

One 45 minute program per class of 30 (max) students: $15/student

Two 45 minute programs per class of 30 (max) students: $22/student

Tidepools on Tour (W, Sat) - Aquarium staff visit your school or event space:

60 minute program (30 min sessions per ~30 students is recommended): $500*

90 minute program (30 min sessions per ~30 students is recommended): $550*

120 minute program (30 min session per ~30 students is recommended): $600*

Each additional 30 minutes: $50 per session

*plus mileage fees to and from the program site

Floating Lab (Tue) - students board a boat and explore coastal ecology in Avila Bay:

Single 120 minute program (for a class of 30 (max) students): $1,250

Double 120 minute program (for two classes of 30 (max) students to take turns on the boat): $2,500

Marine Life Monitoring Program (M,Thu,Fri) - students conduct a coastal field survey:

120 minute program for a class of 30 (max) students: $700

If you are interested in a single Discovery Lab per class ($15/student), select one program topic. If you are interested in two labs per class ($22/student), select two topics.

How many boats are you interested in booking? Each lab lasts 120 minutes and has a capacity of 32 passengers. A maximum of two boats can be booked per day to accommodate multiple larger groups.

Discovery Lab Registration. Please select your first choice date and time for your lab. If more than one class is attending a Discovery Lab, students will rotate between 45 minute labs and Aquarium time. For example, if three classes are attending, you will have three 45 minute rotations. If two classes are attending, you will have two 45 minute rotations.

Spring availability is limited. If your desired date/time is unavailable, another program has already been booked by another school. Please let us know if you would like to be added to our Spring programs waitlist if you cannot find a date that works for you.

Tidepools on Tour Registration. Please select your first choice date and time for your program. Each program has a one-hour-minimum requirement to book.

As 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Central Coast Aquarium's marine science education programs and program scholarships are largely supported by grant funding. For the purposes of grant reporting, the next series of questions will ask you to approximate the percentage of students in your class that identify as a certain ethnicity. $15 per student. Please select the student quantity. A minimum of 15 students or a $225 minimum are required to register. If more than 30 students are attending, we will schedule class rotations through the lab.

$22 per student. Please select the student quantity. A minimum of 15 students or a $330 minimum are required to register. If more than 30 students are attending, we will schedule class rotations throughout each of the labs.

We allow a courtesy of 5 free chaperones per class of 30 students. Please indicate how many additional chaperones will be attending at a rate of $5 each (if applicable).

Program Scholarships

The Central Coast Aquarium strives to offer scholarship assistance to schools seeking financial support.

Through the generous support of local grants and private community donors, scholarship funds are awarded to schools on a first-come, first-served basis, as they are available. Schools with Title I status will be given priority when receiving scholarships.

If you would like to apply for a scholarship please indicate so below. A staff member will follow up with you regarding your application and availability of funds to support your field trip.
