CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE – 2008-100013
Georgia Cosmetology CE Course 1 (2 credit hours)
Lesson 1. Bauhaus Cutting Technique
Introduction: In this lesson stylists will learn the Bauhaus cut. Also in this cut stylists will use perpendicular distribution. Stylists will use diagonal lines with the cutting performed parallel to the base part. They will also use low elevation angles so that activation is minimal.
Part I
Lecture 1: Stylists will be taught how to double and triple their knowledge and income with the Bauhaus cutting technique.
Objective: To teach stylists the Bauhaus cut. The stylists will use perpendicular distribution for this cut. Stylists will use diagonal lines with the cutting performed parallel to the base part. They will also use low elevation angles so that activation is minimal.
PART II
BAUHAUS CUT
Today we are going to explore a revolutionary concept in haircutting. The Bauhaus theory has been used in painting, household furnishing and now hair cutting. The Bauhaus theory uses clean lines, geometric shapes, melding art, crafts and technology to create comfort.
Bauhaus Cut
This system exemplify how a point extends to a line and how a line form geometric shapes, such as rectangles and triangle creating a solid hair shape. This system is about building an outer image by creating inner structure. Each section that is cut is supported by the previous section cut. This is called cutting the hair inside out.
Today we are going to work with 3 concentrations: Perpendicular distribution (the hair is projective at a right angle from it base parting).
Diagonal lines are used when cutting. The finger and cutting instrument must be performed parallel to the base part. Parallel sculpting is also performed with a perpendicular distribution.
Start at the back right panel make a diagonal hairline parting. Hold section at low elevation and cut diagonal back. (Cut away from face)
TOOLS FOR TECHNIQUE:
1. Shears
2. Clips
3. Spray Bottle
4. Razor
5. Ceramic Iron
6. Mannequin
CUTTING TECHNIQUE:
1. Wet the mannequin's hair.
2. Section of the hair into 4 panels, on the back left and right panel leave an inch of hair at the nape area to use as your guide, then secure your sections
3. Begin in the left panel, cut the hair 4 inches below the hairline, repeat on the right panel. This is still your guideline.
4. In the left panel make a diagonal front parting (the point should be toward the perimeter of the panel) using low elevation (15 degree angle, make sure your fingers are parallel to the base parting). Cut that section of hair using your guideline.
5. Repeat on the right side or panel.
6. Continue to rotate until you reach the top of each panel
7. Next move to the left front panel, take a section of hair, using a diagonal parting, take a section of hair from the previously cut back panel as a guide. Hold your finger parallel to the bone parting and using low elevation angle. (15 degrees)
8. Continue until you reach the top of the left panel.
9. Repeat this action in the front right panel until you reach the top of front right panel.
10. Check the cut.
11. Blow dry hair using Bronner Bros. foam wrapping lotion.
And then style using ceramic iron.
12. Next, learn what retail items will be needed to maintain the style.
