  • Our volunteer team is made up of people dedicated to making a real difference in the Bell County Foster Care System. Every volunteer brings unique talents and gifts, while being able to build relationships with individuals who share the same desire to serve.

  • What role are you interested in?

    • Certified Sitter  
    • Certified Sitters will give needed breaks to foster families by providing occasional babysitting services for up to 72 hours. This could include, but is not limited to, providing childcare for Foster Support Group, Foster Interest Meetings, and for local foster families. Our caregivers will provide these services based on their own availability.

      This volunteer must complete the FLBC Childcare Collaborative Certification which includes:

      • Background check
      • Fingerprinting
      • TB Test
      • CPR
      • Trauma-informed Training 

      This would be ideal for a volunteer needing flexible hours who would like to build relationships directly with parents and kids in the foster community!

      Must be 21+ to get certified.

    • House Volunteer 
    • House Volunteers serve in the Foster Love House 2 hours per week, on a consistent day. Tasks may include:

      • House cleanup
      • Filling Love Closet requests
      • Setting up for events
      • Helping with projects, etc. 

      This person must be flexible, kind, and reliable. This is a position that doesn’t work directly with children becuase individuals staying at the Foster Love House are under CPS custody. However, you will be doing tasks that directly affect the foster community.

      6-12 months commitment / Must be 18+.

    • Event Volunteer  
    • Event Volunteers serve during FLBC events & programs over the year.

      This includes:

      • Foster Community Appreciation (March)
      • Summer Goodness Bag Prep (May)
      • Santa Event (July)
      • Haircare Clinic (August)
      • Fall Goodness Bag Prep (October)
      • Christmas Events (December)

      Event Volunteers will complete a signed DFPS Confidentiality Agreement. 

      Must be 18+ (ages 12+ interested in serving must be accompanied by an adult).

      This would be ideal for a someone who cannot commit to serving 2 hours a week like a House Volunteer, but wants to serve the foster community throughout the year.

       

    • Meal Team Volunteer  
    • Members of our Meal Team are available to cook meals during our weekly Foster Support Group for Fall and Spring semesters (6 weeks each).

      This volunteer is welcome to prepare a homemade meal, or bring a pre-made option from a restaurant or fast food establishment. We will have a sign-up for volunteers to pick the weeks that will work with their schedule. 

      Must be 18+ (ages 12+ must serve alongside an adult supervisor). 

      This would be ideal for a volunteer that needs autonomy and wants to serve local families.

       

    • Foster Love Prays 
    • Our Prayer Team is on standby to pray for parents, children, workers, and beyond. We get requests directly from those in need. We will send these in a text message directly to your phone.

      This would be ideal for a volunteer who is available virtually and wants to actively pray for those experiencing challenges within the child welfare system.

    • Celebration Box  
    • Celebration Box needs people looking to provide customized gifts and party supplies for celebrations such as:

      • Birthdays
      • Graduations
      • Reunifications
      • Adoptions

      Each month, we post specific Celebration Box requests on our Celebration Box Facebook Page — follow along and pick a request that you would like to fulfill.

      This would be ideal for a volunteer who wants the flexibility of selecting requests online and making donations to the Celebration Box program , as needed.

    • Love Closet Response Team  
    • The Love Closet Response Team is the first to know when items in the Love Closet get critically low.

      We will update the Love Closet Amazon Wish List and notify the group - so that this team of volunteers can pick out and purchase these items in real-time, straight off the list.

      This would be ideal for a volunteer who wants the flexibility of getting requests via email and making donations to the Love Closet, as needed.

       

    • Confidentiality Agreement 
    • The purpose of this agreement is to record the volunteer’s agreement to keep all client information confidential. 

      The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Confidentiality Agreement states:

      • I am not permitted to take or share photographs of DFPS clients, unless otherwise approved by DFPS.
      • Any information, including client identities and case details, obtained while I am volunteering with DFPS
        must not be discussed or disclosed to any person, other than current DFPS employees and volunteers, and
        then only on a strict need-to-know basis within the scope of the volunteer placement.
      • I also UNDERSTAND the disclosure of confidential information may be considered a violation of law subject to
        criminal penalty under both the Texas Open Records Act, §552.352 Government Code and/or §40.005(e) Human
        Resources Code
