  • SLIDING SCALE PRICING

    Tickets for workshops are sold on a sliding scale and we encourage you to pay according to your available resources. Those with greater financial privilege contribute more, allowing those with less access to pay according to their means. This allows Franconia to sustain its services while making accessibility as broad as possible. Sliding scale prices can be seen in the dropdown menus.

In this two-part workshop, participants will “walk into the woods” together, exploring grief, trauma, our inner lives, and more through site specific poetry inspired by the sculptures and prairie at Franconia.     Soft Sculpture Alebrijes - Oct 18, 1-4PMWith instructor Ivonne Yanez, participants will learn about the historical context of this traditional Mexican folk art and create their own Alebrije, exploring the process of three-dimensionality. They will also learn how to incorporate fabric and other soft materials into their work. Sewing experience is not required.

    Evergreen Wreaths - Nov 8, 1-4PMJoin Alison Bakke of Wildly Grounded for a wreath workshop to ring in the winter season! Participants will build a hand-tied wreath on a 12" willow base and fill it out with MN grown evergreen boughs and other specialty greenery. Alison will teach participants how to customize the finished wreaths at home with ornaments, orange slices, and more! These wreaths will be fully compostable and can be placed in a green waste bin, compost pile, or bonfire at the end of the season

    Watercolor illustration - Nov 15, 1-4PMLearn the basics of water color and leave with three beautiful complete paintings. Instructor Wóokiye Wiŋ will lead students in paintings of Dakota constellations (wičháŋȟpi optáye), Dakota florals (waȟčá) and a Native Mnísota birch tree (tháŋpa). Participants will take home sample watercolor sets from Beam Paints, an Anishnaabe Kwe owned and operated company.

    Colors may be slightly different in the final design. Diving Lady design will use a medium skin tone. If you'd like to personalize the skin tone, you can reach out to Abby at abby.kosberg@gmail.com.

  • TERMS, CONDITIONS, AND IMPORTANT NOTES:

     

    PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY

    I hereby give my permission for images of me and each of the participants in my party captured during the workshop through video, photo, and digital means, to be used solely for the purposes of Franconia Sculpture Park promotional material, publications and grant reporting, in print and online, and I waive any rights of compensation or ownership thereto.

    REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

    No refunds will be given in the event that participants are unable to attend a workshop. On a case by case basis, Franconia may allow people to transfer their registration to a different workshop.

    In the case of cancellation due to weather or other extenuating circumstance, Franconia Sculpture Park will attempt to reschedule the workshop. In the event that this is not possible, a full refund will be returned to each participant.

    RELEASE OF LIABILITY

    I understand that this workshop requires light physical activity and that Franconia is not responsible or liable for injury.
