About the Festival
Theme: Democracy + Community
The Rappahannock Art Festival is a community art festival bringing people together through original work, live performance, installations, and creative conversation. The festival theme is democracy and community—you are welcome (but not required) to create work that connects to civic life, local stories, belonging, freedom of expression, community care, voting, rights, or what democracy looks like in practice.
This festival is organized by the League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan nonprofit. Your art does not need to be nonpartisan—political and challenging topics are welcome. We simply ask that participants do not engage in partisan campaigning (candidate/party advocacy or fundraising) and that all work and conduct remains free of hate or harassment.
Art is one of the most human forms of political expression - this space is for expression.
