  • Do you have a passing grade in CSEC and/or CAPE Spanish or French OR do you have the English as a Second Language qualification?*
  • You do not have to do a foreign language.

    Students with a foreign language pass at CSEC (Grades I – III) or CAPE (Grades I – V) or an equivalent, shall be exempted without credit from the foreign language requirement and must register for FOUN 1101.  Include FOUN 1101 in the table below.

  • You must do a foreign language.

    Students WITHOUT a foreign language pass in CSEC/CAPE or an English as a Second Language qualification upon matriculation MUST register for a foreign language course at the Centre for Language Learning (CLL) instead of FOUN 1101.  Include your chosen foreign language course in the table below.  Visit the website https://sta.uwi.edu/fhe/cll/  for more information.  

    The following are the FLR courses available:

    CHIN 1007 – Mandarin Chinese for Beginners I (Blended)
    FREN 1009 – French for Beginners I (Blended)
    JAPA 1007 – Japanese for Beginners I (Blended)
    PORT 1001 – Portuguese Language 1A
    SIGN 1052 – Trinidad and Tobago Sign Language as a Foreign Language
    SPAN 1007 – Spanish for Beginners I (Blended)

     

  • Do you have a passing grade in CAPE Pure Mathematics or N1 Mathematics?*
  • Before inserting your additional courses, please ensure that:

    You have read your academic advising guidelines

  • You do not have to do MATH 1115 and/or MATH 1125.

    Students with passes in CAPE Pure Maths (Units I & II) or N1 Mathematics (MATH 0100 & MATH 0200) or equivalent will be granted exemptions WITHOUT credit from MATH 1115 and/or MATH 1125.

    However, you must:

    1. register for replacement level I course(s).  Include your chosen course(s) in the table below, and
    2. apply for the exemption(s) using the following link https://sta.uwi.edu/resources/documents/ExemptionCreditsForm2024.pdf.
