The Forest-based Sector Technology Platform (FTP) is the European association representing the forest-based sector on research & innovation issues. FTP's work is based on its Strategic Innovation and Research Agenda (SIRA), a key document that outlines the targets to be achieved and the challenges to overcome across the entire forest-based value chain. We are currently updating the SIRA 2030, published in 2019, and we need the input of stakeholders from across the sector to ensure this new version accurately reflects today’s priorities and challenges. They should work towards the four main objectives to strengthen European competitiveness and resilience, fulfilling consumer needs, mitigating global challenges, and make sure we have healthy, resilient, and productive forests.
In this first consultation, we will present the Vision Target areas representing different parts of the sector. For those relevant to your activities, we will ask your opinion on the importance of these areas and which targets/KPI we should use to measure the sector's evolution.
The updated documents—Vision and SIRA 2040—will be published in 2027. This is the first of four consultations designed to gather ideas and insights from the sector.
To better understand the context of this SIRA update, please refer to the following presentation: Introduction to the 1st FTP SIRA Open Consultation
The deadline to complete this questionnaire is 30 June 2025.
